What happened to Windows 9?

Windows 7 in my opinion was the their best effort since XP.

It's horses for courses. Agree 7 was good for harden mouse user but for us touch geeks it had to be 8. 8.1 was a compromise to try to pacify the Mouse/Keyboard brigade but IMHO the better option would have been to just stick with 7.

I'm certified :lol: so I have to join the early adopter programs '10 tehnical preview'. It's coming along nicely but again have to say so far is sucks for us touch geeks but the old school 7 M/Kbd users will love it. I'm sure it will 'perfect' before official release if they can prize Cortana from under Master Chief.

For now I think the picture in post one sums it up nicely for me.

It's just windows 8 with a different face on, still be rubbish. :Biggrin2:

I always use the latest operating system even in its beta stages; I remember installing the beta version of Windows 95 with its 22 discs, pain in the neck but well worth it in the end.

You remember 95, I cut my teeth with Windows 3.1!

Only this year I managed to dump all my floppies.

Lol, the good old days but windows 3.1 didn’t have 22 floppy disks.

And I still have the original dos 5 disks

Im using the technical preview at the min. Massive improvement on windows 8, I think it will do well.
