My mate's looking to put a telly in his kitchen, only needs Freeview channels on it. Doesn't have an aerial on his property but could easily split his VM cable. Suggestions for a suitable box please?
Thanks in advance,
HH.

I suppose you have to way up the costs between either a new aerial installation or the price of a cheap cable receiver, round here there are that many fly-by-nights its cheaper to get an aerial fitted

Just get a boosted internal aerial..cheap way around it as long as tv has freeview.

Get sky to fit a dish and box then cancel before the 5 day cooling period.

Naughty but nice

@HappyH if your mate is extending his VM box then surely he wont need another box it would just be an extension from the other room?. The only downside is you will have to change channels in the other room. Failing that there are lots of Tv's out there with freeview built in them now, so as stated by @AJT get the best quality indoor aerial with booster that your mate can afford. Good luck.

He tried an indoor aerial but picture was unwatchable & can't fit an external. Specifically looking for a cable box just for Free channels. Thanks for the replies, was hoping somebody would say an old eurovox (or similar) would suffice.
Cheers HH.

Okay then go for a Zgemma H1 good little box for the money decent enough specs official support from openATV and patched Vix images around £75.

i'm not sure if he would get freeview using it with diffrent area's and all that, but if he wants to pay the postage, he is welcome to it.

ps i have no idea where the remote control or power lead is...

the good old days guys ;)

he would have to del the chip and put the correct area code in and FRQ , not worth it for FTA channels

plus it probs would not work with N3 anyways

sorry for hijacking...

does this have a working epg and HD channels?

Lots? All of them surely? Freeview is standard now for terrestrial broadcasting.

I am still installing Freeview boxes for our older folk mate. They like there video recorders still as well. :)
