Hi again all,

I lost Pick TV earlier tonight so I re-scanned and found there were about 10 French Freeview channels in my channel line-up which included (among others) ARTE HD and Eurosport... they were all perfect picture and sound for about 15 minutes then they disappeared... so I re-scanned again and all channels went back to the normal UK Freeview...

However Pick TV disappeared again at about 11pm so I re-scanned and I then found 3 more French Freeview HD channels in the channel line-up which are still active now over an hour later...

The latest three HD channels are listed below...

UHF channel 31 ~ Frequency 554000 kHz

6ter HD
Numero 23 HD
RMC Recouverte HD

Has anyone else noticed this happening tonight...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

We are near the end of the 11 year solar cycle which culminates in reversal of the Sun's magnetic field. In the build-up, atmospheric disruption often leads to so-called 'lifts' when transmission distances increase etc., sometimes significantly. Although it can affect all frequencies it's most noticeable with the higher ones such as satellite resulting in an apparently larger footprint.

Unfortunately, 'lifts' don't usually last long.

I assume in this case @Zorch was referring to terrestrial transmissions (UHF channel 31 ~ Frequency 554000 kHz). Down here we frequently pick up signals from N Africa (some still analogue!!) by accident, but as you say, they're usually gone in a short time.

I am in East London. On Saturday morning I got into the car and the Engine Management light came on. I drove to the garage who plugged it into the Laptop, reset the warning and told me it was all ok. Apparently the Starter Motor integrity check was faulting?

I got home and my Wifi was playing up, had to reset the router to fix it.

Later that evening we sat down and put the TV on. The Image on the screen was bad! Pixels, Blocks, Washed out colours and then a wallpaper effect. I unplugged it from the mains for a few mins, plugged it back in and was all ok.

THEN I went for a run Sunday. My GPS watch was frozen!

So, something clearly happened on Saturday. Two things plugged into the mains, two things not.. Could this have been a result of the above?

In a word, NO! I have been advised by @Spectre not to leave my 'plonker' out for too long or someone will try to pull it. You wouldn't do that, would you?

;)
