Is start with the Zgemma mate to see if a motorised setup is for you.

My personal recommendations for a quailty setup would be a Gibertini dish and stab mount if your going the usual route.

If not a channel master dish vbox and jaeger 36 volt setup.

Thanks for that Ferret :) so if i was to go with the channel master vbox set up what would my shopping list be? or is it a kit, I think it would be going on a concrete pad in the back garden, I am sry but I have absolutely no idea about any of this stuff and what size would the dish be 1.2m ish

Thanks

Id go with 1.2 up there mate and no its not a kit exactly but they all go together nicely.

36 volt motor control Jaeger SuperJack V-Box II

Dish CH23 1.2m Channel Master called Raven now offset SMC dish face

Polar Mount Not cheap though.

Jack Arm

Not cheap that lot. The usual s route will be a lot cheaper

The weather it's likely to see is a big consideration there, stronger wind exposure, more in the way of rain & salt air. The Channel Master dishes are built to survive 125mph & take chemical & salt air - stick them on a rig anywhere & they'll take it. The steel work is usually heavy dip galvanised (& try to use the same for the bracket/s) but it's harder to get hold of original polarmounts.

If you have a look at how rusty existing dishes are there is a good indication of what would happen over time if you just stuck a cheap dish up, I'd still keep a bit of maintenance regime of greasing / rust treatment they can carry on working a long time.

M8 iptv if you a decent ish internet connection
The 3 weeks you'll spend pulling your hair out and chopping the face off the Mrs & Kids out of sheer frustration when they say hi Dad... just coz you can't get it working

lol yeah but only me and the wife now so not too bad she always has her book ;) and the internet connection is hit and miss i think so the dish setup would be better, and i am off to the pub now lol

I dunno bud, for me foreign tv is something I'm just not into, if it were me (and I say this reluctantly) I would consider a basic subscription to howling mad Murdock and when there's a match on, piss off down the pub and leave the Mrs to enjoy her book lol

You do know most is in English & we're talking hundreds of channels for each type of channel

The poor internet problem was expected too, you don't have to go too far out of any town or city & I mean not far & you find yourself in no mains gas land, let alone access to half decent internet. We've been looking for a property & country + internet is a nightmare let alone on an island - a dish has massive bit rate download access- 1 sat caries up to 5Gb/s download & a decent motorised = 40 - 50 sats or more, & high HD quality is no problem including the rich broadcast feeds, & quality wise way above IPuke TV low quality levels, a decent motorised is actually ideal for a location like that.

hey peeps, so would this be good

HERE

with a quad lnb and what about the vbox options there are 2 ?

Thanks

Top kit that mate the Raven.

Id go with a Jaeger SuperJack V-Box II personaly but go with advice from Pulsat they really know their stuff.

Well it's been nearly a year since I bought all this stuff, but we got to the island about 6 weeks ago so had it all out of the boxes yesterday might need a bit of help setting this up as I have never had a motorised dish before, will get some pictures together then maybe some of you might be able to point me in the right direction, no pun intended lol only thing I need is the 4 core cable but will order that up today.

Hey Peeps, ok got the pole in the groundWP_20180713_16_42_24_Pro_LI.jpg

ok and the brackets on do i need to set the face of where the dish goes to a certain angle or just plumb?

and the actuator do i need to wind it out so for before i fix it to the bracketWP_20180713_16_43_38_Pro_LI.jpg

like i say i aint got a clue lol but you learn from doing, and of coarse a point in the right direction, the pole is going to need some stays as it does wobble a bit.

thanks

If you do use guide stays on that pole engineer ones you can tighten in all directions think threaded rod cause when that dish goes on it could send to pole out of plumb.

I usually bolt the dish on and them plumb the pole before i pour the concrete very tricky but worth it.

Hey Ferret, yeah put stays on it for it to stay plumb but i have some buckles with wire rope so i can do the same tighten it as is so should all be good, its in the ground 3 feet.

hey, ok i got the dish up do i have to set the dish vertically to a certain degree ? as i am in the outer hebrides i suppose it will be say less than in yorkshire?

update

finding loads of satellite signals tbh just finding the right one :)

cheers

well been trying for ages to get thor, then it after a bit of reading realized i probably can't get it up here, so tried 5w eulestat the sat finder gets a strong signal but on the zgemma hs2 no signal, so not sure whats wrong maybe its a setting on the box, anyway its done me head in lol if anyone has any ideas or pointers to put me on the right track would be good :) the pole is plumb and the weather is good no wind at the moment, oh i did set the latitude and longitude on the box.

thanks

100% sure you have the long and lat figure correct - is west etc ?

If so send the motor to 5w then swivel the whole motor around on the pole till you pull it in. If your dish elevation declination is correct all the other sats should then fall into place.

hey, ok defo got the latitude and longitude right, this is from dishpointer for 5w now this dish is an offset dish not sure on the degrees it is? would it be a 30 degree design, i have had a look around the net but not found anything

Dish Setup Data
Elevation: 23.8°
Azimuth (true): 178.4°
Azimuth (magn.): 182.5°
LNB Skew [?]: -0.8°
