Old Sky dish

I have just moved in to a house where they left behind a Sky dish but nothing connected with it
How can I find out if it works and what would I need to receive transmission (I do not want Sky)

You would really need to hook a box up to the dish to test the lnb fully. You could get all the Freesat channels off the dish. Do you know anyone with a sky box so you can test the dish? You can get more but via card share but they are being switched off at the moment so not a good time to buy.

This may be a dumb follow up question but I am cpmpletely new to this

If I plug the lead from the dish into my TV should I receive anything at all if the dish is still working?
