Hi lads, at the moment looking towards
Dm900 or VU+ UNO 4k.
Any of those support 16/32APSK modulation ? Can't find manufacturer specification.
My current box VU+DUO served well for years no complaints there, bought new 4k tv lately,it is time to change box too, I guess ?

Hard one mate .

So much to way up.

The Dm900 has a mipsel cpu which still has more support plugins wise compared to the ARM CPU in the VU but the VU has a free tuner slot.

Not sure what way id go.

Don't forget that the Uno4K does not have accept an internal HDD. The Uno 4K only has one tuner slot, it only accepts the newer type of FBC tuner.

Never heard about new ARM cpu, I presume cams are still supported ? Mgcamd , CCCAM , OSCAM etc?
FBC tuner for the UNO 4k makes it more interesting ...

One fixed 3 lnbs dish + motorised setup

Can't find about HDR ,auto framerate switching ? So much horse power, surely they can run KODI smoothly.

I forgot to mention the Mutant HD-51 and Octagon SF408

If I were buying, I would get a receiver that supports multi-stream

Octagon SF4008
DVB-S2x support , well known brand ,might be interesting option .
As for the Mutant HD-51 ...is it worth to be considered?

Is it really worth buying a 4k box. How much 4k stuff is actually available?

Not much, couple channels around the Europe .
It is also can be used as a Kodi box or media player for 4k content.
There are few 4k HDR movies available already

After some reading,
All budget UHD STBs (DM900, vu uno 4k, mutant 51, Technomate TM-Twin 4K etc) using same ARMv7 architecture CPUs
Broadcom bcm7251 (7251s, 7252,7252s etc- just different clock variations)

I've got the Uno 4k at the end of the day.
OpenAtv 6.0 . It is decent box , probably too early to judge yet.
I am not too impressed with the picture quality so far, might try some tweaking or different image .
HDMI , 2060p upscale, autoframe rate switch. 4422/4444 hdmi colorspace ,10 bit
Upscale working fine, I wouldn't say it makes native 576/720/1080 picture much worse.
Autoframe rate switching correctly(24p/50p/60p), no issues there .
Kodi 17.1 downloaded of a feed, limited version imo, GUI 720p max, which is not great for 60" 4k screen :(
Can't use internal Kodi player too, only the original Vu+ ( Openatv) mediaplayer.
4k HDR content playing fine , I've got few 4k HDR bluray rips ,25-40Gb each (for educational purposes of course )
As for the picture quality , may be Iam too picky , it is compare to Android media box ( Himedia Q5 pro ,
HiSilicon Hi3798CV200 chipset)

some good reviews on this box i am thinking of getting one to replace my vu+ultimo, but lack of programmes and the fact that the upscaling quality of older movies progarm etc may not be good, also the fact ill need a 4k tv as well lol..will proably wait a bit

Support is the key factor here and it not only about 3rd party images but device drivers updates aswell.
We probably can rely on Vu+, DM, Technomate , not sure about Mutant boxes.

true , it comes down to after support, ive alway had vu boxes but new ones are really expensive...

Vu+ have a piss poor reputation for releasing Updates/Drivers etc.. you only have to scan through some of the posts over on the ATV forum to find that out after the debacle of the latest OpenATV 6.0 image this Vu solo 4K will be my last Vu+ product.

Other companies such as Gigablue,Octagon etc.. have a far better track record of fixing issues far quicker
