Hi all anyone have opinions on these 2 boxes i know the technomate can take a internal hard drive

my question is how do these 2 boxes compare and does the edision record and play back ok as the USB is 2.0?

Edision OS MINI 2x DVB-S/S2

Technomate TM-Nano-SE PLUS Enigma 2 Linux HD PVR Twin

thanks in advance

They both have plus points and bad points but for me if you where in a cable area that would swing it towards the TM as its second tuner is Plug & Play, if you need wi-fi then the Edision has it.

Tried the Edision OS Mini on record on an external 2.5" USB 3.0 drive and the rear usb had no problems

thanks for that im not in a cable area so only need twin satellite

I have the xtrend et8000 in one room great box

and the wetek openelec in the other room but it will not record and playback very well so looking for another box

You already have an Xtrend why not go for the ET8500 £179 far better than both of those receivers chipset wise anyway

LOL I was looking at that, and also VU range......so much choice

You mention that you have an extrend ET 8000,That has a triple tuner option and is a great box,Why not look at stepping up to the ET 8500,It has the option of 4 tuners either cable or satellite,The technomate box you mention is ok, but the romote control is dreadfully poor,I bought both the extrend et 8500 and the technomate tm -nano -se plus 2 months ago,I set up the technomate box first,Price £170 with a built in 500 GB hard drive and twin tuner satellite tuners,Set it up running openvix and used for 2 days,Put that back in the box and out come the et 8500,Price £249.00 as was on offer from WOS,Its has a quadruple tuner option so those who are in a cable area can have a twin tuner cable and a twin tuner satellite all in one box,It has an LCD screen on the front with some wicked features,I chose the 500 GB build in hard drive option and it will record on 3 channels and you can watch the forth without any issues what so ever,I have set up a few a edision os mini boxes and must admit for the price its a great little box,Built in wifi which works very well for those who like the wifi option, remote is great and all in all a very quick box and its fully supported by openvix and openatv,There is a section on another forum which i have seen, zgemma verses Edision os mini,The forum has a big zgemma section and a lot of support for that box yet still the edision seems to be coming out on top,I myself would choose that box and for around the £100 mark makes it a great buy

update...just ordered xtrend ET8500 box
I have contacted bobby123 to see if a section on the extrend ET 8500 box could be added ,He will contact admin to see it if its possible,I have a backup image available to forum members if anyone would like to try,Its been tried and tested many times and people seem to enjoy it,

you could use this section for the time being?

https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/all-other-receivers-490/
Thanks for that,Bobby123 gave me a link there,I did reply asking how long does it take to add a new section on the forum if admin is happy to do so,I dont think he has been back on today to reply today,The one thing i have found in the past when posting about a new box with out having a section,You can post in one place and then all new posts start popping up all over the forum about the same thing,I have some good stuff to input and should be very helpful to other members,I am not new to using forums,I just like helping others

I recently purchased ET8500 ( WOS) and find it to be a great machine... also pulled a 500 gb hdd from an old laptop and placed in side tray, pushed into box and instant connection. Loved it.

I'm sure you'll like it...... only one thing I forgot to mention, the fan is slightly noisey, but
a big issue.

Go into menu, system, fan control and tweak around with the settings and you will be able to get your fan to run silently,I can hear a pin drop when i turn the sound down and recording on 2 channels
