So have you ever had to get on the roof and move the Satellite dish or install one for a friend?
Once up there with the wind in your hair you find yourself with dish in one hand and a Satellite finder in the other. But the reacquiring problem is that the Sat finder needs power from the receiver box. So once you take out the feed from the box to plug in to your Sat finder you move the dish to the correct position you then unplug the feed from the Sat finder to put it back in the dish and WHACK you have moved the dish and you have to start this process all over again. Well not any more.
With this little trick you can wizz up there plug in your cheap sat finder and align the dish without the hassle of wondering if you are going to knock the dish or disconnecting your feed to your box and never losing power to your Sat finder throughout the whole thing.

You're Welcome :ST Geo:

never used one as like the challenge for a manual set up lol

Those finders are crap.
Wont tell you what satellite you are on, buy a cheap satlink meter with built in sats from ebay for £45 with power pack.
Built in led screen you can see the fta channels as well.

or you can do my mod for about £11 all in. Hence the "CHEAP" in the title.

Nice mod @Gun_Man it might suit some people who are on a budget and don't want to splash out. Never mind Grumpy @Manic his barks worse than his bite ;)

I don't think this is about what satellite your on, its aimed at getting best signal from the satellite your pointing your dish at.

From what I've seen of the Satlink meters, they are not very reliable on the meter readings, you can easily get a situation where it says the best signal is actually a % off true aim. That is, it's seeing a very strong signal & getting overloaded & gives a better reading off center. That & they seem to alter once introduced to strong signals.
They will tell you what satellite you are on, which is getting harder with all the satellites up there, used to be a lot easier to judge knowing the gaps & relative strengths of each sat on the arc.
