So if you live in a caravan, boat or just use TV when you are out camping and hate having to keep getting up on the roof and moving the dish this is a little hack that I thought of for a fraction of the price of a auto self moving dish.
you will need some hand tools and a bit of know how. As I have been a CCTV engineer and installed TV services for some of the UK biggest companies I found the install to be fine. But I can help you have issues.
Things that you will need
1. Hand tools
2. TV dish
3. TV cable (RG59 75OHM)
4. PTZ CCTV Motor
5. PTZ Controller
The total cost of this setup should only be about £170 give or take the stuff you buy.
The great thing about it is that once the dish is mounted on the motor and then installed on the roof or wherever you put it you can control its movements right next to your TV so if its late at night or raining outside you can sit in the dry and warm and make sure you are always getting the best signal strength possible.
I know there are motorized dishes out there but as I said if you have this set up on a caravan and you move the van completely around this system can handle that where I have been told that motorized dishes have limited movement.
Now I am not saying that is the definitive setup but it is what I have installed and it has worked for me and as I say it saves me going outside and moving the dish every 5 minuets and its a lot cheaper that the auto ones that start around the £1000 mark.
Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
Cheers

Not a bad idea mate. Makes me cringe now- I did a lot of CCTV work for a 'well-known biscuit company' a number of years back, replacing all the old B&W PTZ's with Dennard domes. There was nothing wrong with the old kit as it had been well looked after, most of it either got skipped or went on the Bay for pennies. Ho hum, oh for a crystal ball....

I know what you mean. I worked for 7 years at a CCTV firm that upgraded all the cameras for London Underground. The same thing happened there money was wasted and kit upgraded to "new kit" that was already 10 years out of date at the point of install. So now the cycle starts again. Still it gives people jobs I guess.
