my dish has been off for a week or so now, due to the crap weather ive not been able to get upto it, had a look today and all looks good except is seems like theres no power going to the dish,

i un did the cable going from the box to the dish at dish end it seemed a little wet, could it possibly be that water has got into it? and if so would I need to replace the whole run? (pretty easy to do for me)

cheers.

i presume you have a motorised dish.do you have no signal at all ? check your lnb also water can penetrate the cable if it is old or worn.if you cant see anyting up with the lnb just replace your cable.id say that would be the culprit

yes m8 its motorised, when I first went up it did move for a few seconds(with the buttons underneath) but then just stopped working completely, its not really that old a setup maybe 2/3 years,

ill maybe try replace the cable to lnb first which would be much easier but knowing me it'll be the cable going to the box.

cheers m8.

is there not a reset button on the motor. Sounds like its tripped out

Stole this from elsewhere.

If the motor dosen't move manually with either reciever connected, a hard reset of the motor may do the trick. There is a little hole in the motor near the connectors marked reset, stick a paperclip of sommat in it.

Though this will also reset 0 to wherever the motor is positioned usually. So once it's moving again, you need to drive it to 0, then reset again. Otherwise the motor will think that 0 is 23.5e +/- your longditude.

thanks ian, never seen a reset button but then again never looked :)

but its the first thing ill be checking tomorrow :THANKS: ill let u know how I get on.

hi mate going by the look of things its this:
SUPREME DARK LED MOTOR METAL GEAR DiSEqC 1.2 / 1.3 USALS - SYSTEMSAT

if that makes any sence. think its just a cheapo.

Could be wrong mate but a reset is done by pressing both buttons in and holding them till the led display changes.

Have you quecked the voltage your getting out the dish end too ?

hi m8 thanks ill try that if I find no reset button,

ive not got the tools to check the voltage, what would I need?

You can buy a very cheap multimeter at argos or maplins

Maplin Pocket Sized Autoranging Multimeter | Maplin £6.99

Set to dc and measure from the screen to centre core you should get a voltage when the box is set to move the dish. The box outputs 2 different voltages one higher than the other the motor uses this to set the direction. I'm sure it ranges from 13 to 18v

cheers guys, ill try a reset first see how I get on.

Uesin a 10 year old fortec star motor [ maplins }on a triax 1.2 dish got with one there specail deals years ago still going strong so far .

I had to reset a mates motor before had to disconect feed to motor then held two buttons on motor in then reconnected sat feed wait for light on motor to flash then motor was reset .

Sorry can remember name of his motor something being with m it was a bit of junk ended up been replace with technomate 2600 motor in the end .

ran new cable from dish to box but still no power to motor, I'm taking it that's it knackered??

if that's the case whats the best motor for me to replace it with?

cheers.

Stabb 120 just goes on and on.

Your saying you have no power to the motor ! Did you check this with a multimeter ? Because if you truly have no voltage at the dish that is a tuner fault if there is voltage there it could be the motor.

manic: no I just changed the one from box to dish cause I thought that's the one that powers the motor, normally when that ones connected it shows a red light and I can move it manually so I know its working.

ferret: it seems like no power to motor cause as I said I cant even move it manually with the buttons on the motor, ive not checked it with a meter cause ive not got one,am I better to maybe buy a cheap multimeter or is there anyother way to check it??

cheers.

Better with the multimeter mate or if you have another reciver try that if that wont move the motor it looking like the motor itself and not a tuner fault.

thanks ferret I just plugged in an old skybox f3 I had lying about but still no luck,

so I might just go ahead and order a motor, was looking at tm-2600 at about £45 any experience with this?

thanks again.

Ive installed the odd one but ive no idea regarding the longevity of those. Im sure other members will have had experience of them.

Yea tm2600 is not a bad motor , me mate has,nt had any trouble with his so far .

Would also try the motor ferret was talking about to but as always it,s down to price and value for money .
