Hi All,

I'm hoping that some one will be able to give me some advice with the following problem I'm having.

I've worked with Sky on Astra 28.2E for a couple of years but I'm currently wanting to receive the a number of the remaining satellites which can be received.

The setup which I'm working with is a Spiderbox HD9000 along with a 80cm motorised dish - not sure if its 100% setup correctly and its giving me a nightmare when trying to tune in new satellites (Channel lists send the dish all over the place). I've been researching the net and I'm coming to the conclusion that this set-up isn't the best and is dated.

Would you advised me to stick with this setup or look at replacing it and if it was a replacement of kit what would you recommend? - I was thinking a 1Meter dish along with a Dreambox?

Many Thanks,

Rob

80cm motorised dish with a vu box should be fine, if you dont have trees etc obscuring the dish

How much would a motorised dish set me back if I decided to go for european stuff

Would a larger dish make it more difficult or easier to receive satellites then? I'm interested in getting Badr6, Eutelsat 7 West and Nilesat 201.

Also are the Vu boxes easy to setup with a motorised dish?

Good luck with that! They're not European satellites, You need at least a 2m dish to get those sats in the UK, and if you're further north than about Manchester you won't get them at all as the Earth's curvature takes them out of your line of sight. Sorry! You could always try IPTV if you're after the footy

Oooh, now I'm interested, I've been told numerous times I'd get nothing on those birds? Especially badr? Thanks for the info, looks like I'm going to be hunting a little! :D

Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W

A properly aligned 1 Metre+ dish will receive Eutelsat 7 West A in the UK

Nilesat 102 at 7.0°W

A properly aligned 1.2 Metre+ dish will receive Nilesat 102 in the UK

Nilesat 201 at 7.0°W

Reception of Nilesat 201 is not impossible in the UK but a 2.5m ~ 3.5m dish would be required

Badr 4 at 26.0°E

A properly aligned 1 Metre+ dish will receive Badr 4 in the UK

Badr 5/6 at 26.0°E

Reception of Badr 5/6 is not impossible in the UK but a 2.5m ~ 3.5m dish would be required

I hope this helps...

Thats Awsome stuff Zorch - I've been looking at getting a 1.2M but struggling to find a decent one - any recommendations for manufactures as I believe this effects the quality to doesn't it?

Also any recommendations for suppliers?
