What is the OE-ALLIANCE ?.

OpenVix and openAAF had the idea to create a common build environment for the new OE-CORE and work together to optimize this environment.

All teams are using almost the identical build environment, so why not creating something together? The answer is the OE-Alliance.

Since we have a name now, we created a GIT repository quickly and the integration can be started.

The OE-Alliance is the base for each team, which is interested in building an OE-CORE image. We have discussed this already with several teams and they quickly agreed to work together.
We think that our new companionship should be visualized, so we created a logo. We call it the Seal.

The seal contains one golden star for each team which is part of the OE-Alliance. As you see we currently have 7 stars, representing the following teams: (16.07.2012)


Because the OE-Alliance is the build environment, each team will continue to provide his own team image. As you know each team maintains his own Enigma and his own skin, which makes the difference of each single team image.

Die Build Umgebung bei allen Teams ist fast immer identisch warum soll man dann nicht zusammen was aufbauen. Die Idee war da und OE-Alliance der Name war geboren.

Da wir nun einen Namen hatten war schnell ein GIT erstellt und die Integration kann beginnen.

OE-Alliance dient als Grundlage für jedes Team welches ein OE-CORE Image bauen möchte, wir hatten schon mit einiges Teams diskutiert und hatten auch gleich die Zustimmung bei der Zusammenarbeit.

Wir hatten uns gedacht wenn man schon eine neue Gemeinschaft bildet wollen wir das auch zeigen und haben uns ein Logo entwerfen lassen. Wir nennen es das Siegel.

Im Siegel sieht man Goldene Sterne für jedes Image Team welches sich der OE-Alliance angeschlossen hat steht ein Stern.

Wie Ihr sieht haben wir aktuell 7 Sterne folgende Teams machen bei OE-Alliance mit: (stand 16.07.2012)


Da es hier bei OE-Alliance um die Build Umgebung handelt wird es auch in Zukunft weiter

why not ?

The way i look at it and maybe i'm being optimistic but by involving TM they would get a chance to LEARN from the other teams involved and hopefully result in a better image by their own team who ever they may be. after all they get to see the inner workings of 8 other successful teams ( if i do say so my self ).

even a blind monkey could benefit from such a project so why not TM ?.

why would that be ? it's not like they have the ability to change any thing in the images of the other teams. They simply have full access to the central GIT allowing them to pool the resources of 8 other teams for use with their own images. surely this is a good idea as rather than them groping around in the dark they get all the help and assistance they could ask for. DONT GET ME WRONG i am not defending TM for their past indiscretions but this way you may just get that working image from TM that you lot are always asking for.

i'll take that on the chin considering i'm half monkey hanger ( thank fook i dont have that god awful bloody accent ).

Makes perfect sense for TM to join they can use existing code an knowledge from other teams for free and not have to pay a proper team to code an image for them ..as obviously theyre own teams are pretty useless name changing cant cover up their incompetence.. UR/IQ/DS/4D etc..
Why are none of the more well known teams members of the alliance ?? ...BlackHole Team, DreamElite, OpenPLI, Gemini/IHAD, Merlin, OOzoon, PeterPan etc ??

I doubt you will see Blackhole in there they work exclusively for VU+ and Open PLI is what most of those teams in the OE Alliance base there image on anyway.

so as all of these teams have come together, and made allof this stuff 'open' does that then mean that those that can, are free to compile what they want from it, and release it as unofficial open stuff for anyone whos brave enough to have a play with?

well for starters almost all of those quoted teams work exclusivity for DMM hardware. but hey you never know what the future may bring.

as the OE-A is opensource it's open to any one to work from, the point of the various teams coming together under the OE-A banner is to co-operate and where possible help each other.

The OE-A will also maintain our own plugins / skins, without license restrictions etc, so that they will work with all images produced by the various member teams, where at the moment a good deal of plugins only work on certain images / hardware

I would like to officially welcome and announce The Sifteam as the tenth member of the OE-Alliance. With each new member into the alliance our community grows for the better of our combined images and our users in general.
