technomate v dreambox linux based stb

£125 is about right, for a DM800HD clone, at that price will be direct from China though...you wont get a UK supplier selling for that price. I've always ordered from China though, the cost saving has so far massively outweighed any issues i've had so defintiely worth the gamble if you use a reputable supplier.

There is no better price vs performance/bang for buck reciever that can compete with a DM800HD clone in the £125 price range.

If money was no object, I would have a DM8000 over a VU DUO+. You might also want to have a look at Qbox Mini HD looks very good value for money £199 Enigma 2 twin tuner reciever, im not quite sure on the images and software support though doesnt appear to be any major teams behind it, but all base features are reported to be working PVR, CardReader, SoftCAMS etc...

Yet you will go all out to persuade people NOT to buy a linux TM receiver for the exact reason you posted above, but for the Qbox this is just a minor thing?

No im not recommending buying a Qbox Mini HD either for the same reason, im not convinced the software is any good, or the support is there. It's worth keeping an eye on just to see how it develops. I wouldnt personally buy a Qbox Mini at this stage, i do however follow the forums and read up on how the sofwarers coming along... if its the real deal i'd consider buying one it wins the price battle hands down, looks like base features are all there...just the software is the question mark..

Just the same as it's worth keeping an eye on TM Linux Recievers..if theyre in a position where I think theyre a better prospect for my needs than the equivalent Dm500/600/800/clone for price/performance/software support i'd buy one. At the minute I cant justify why I should buy a TM Linux reciever over the equivalent clone DM for my setup. For other people a TM might suit their setup if the need the dual scarts or RF modulator etc...I dont need these..

Just to add my opinion of the qbox hd mini having owned one. This box does everything it says it does and at £200 for a twin tuner box it really is a very good value for money box. It also works very well with Oscam I just dont see the need for cccam so dont see that as a problem. The box has been available for about 4 months and to my knowledge there are two teams working with it that`s one more than TM linux boxes have.
