Right the weather is holding up this weekend so i'm going to do the dreaded fine tune on my setup to get the best out of it but need someone to help refresh my memory.

I am currently finding that on some SATs like 9e/10e i am getting BERR.

My USAL settings seem to be off from my actual location for example (not my real figure :)) if my LON is -0.977 i have to enter 1.677east to get some of the SATS, does this mean my setup is too far east? I can get THOR and other SATs with this setup.

What i was going to do was drive the motor to 0 degrees, loosen the motor and then manually move the motor west/east until i get bbc on THOR. Is that correct?

Or do i need to drive the motor to 1degrees and then manually move the motor?

Something is obviously off as i'm having to over compensate my LON get my dish to pick up some of the SATs. I'm going to regret doing this as it will end in tears and nothing will work LOL

BTW i'm using the technomate 9100

thanks

this is odd, i remember replying to this the other night?????????

ok, first off put your lat/lon to the correct settings, and drive the dish to thor, you will not have a signal as the dish will now be mis-alaignes, but your lat/lon will be correct on the receiver

go outside and adjust the dish to get a picture on BBC world and tighten it up, but not too tight yet, check you can still get the usual sats 1, 5, 12,5, 22, 30W and 5, 13, 19, 28 and 42 E

now drive the dish to 16E, on the music channel balkanika, if you get all the other satellites mentioned then you may get a picture on this channel, but if you dont, then very fine tuning is all thats needed. moving the dish will put you miles off, so just slightly bend the face of the dish up, dn, L and R to see which way brings the picture in, you can slightly move the dish left and right by tightening the opposite bolts on the back of them motor bracket, as explained in the motorised tut in the help link of my siggy

as long as you get the main sats, then use balkanika to fine tune, youll be spot on m8 ;)

are you still up that ladder, must be that or you have found the pron channels :proud:

LOL na was obliged to take my boy to the park yesterday as the weather was nice.....well ive got it fairly close after 2 hours of molesting the dish and the motor, i didnt get the chance to test it fully, but most of the sattelites dont have BERR but that might be because of the signal strength.

i could get the balkanika channel but had BERR and it was a bit hit and miss ......would lose the signal....so i tried bending the dish but that didnt do anything and would lose the signal......

I tried Hispsat (bbc), Thor (BBC), hotbird TPS, 19.2, and uk astra and everything was spot on with my USAL info.

FFS did a more thorough test today and its ever so slightly off!!!.......on some sats i get BERR.....if my LON was 1.688 i have to enter around 1.788/1.888....should have done a more thorough job last sunday!!! although i reckon this may have been caused when i tightened the bolts and i didnt do it equally!!!

had the same prob,i ended up buying some t&k brackets and a bit of scaffold now its perfect, pain in the arse isnt it.you will get there :proud:

i dont know ......i think i will leave it till next summer when it gets warmer.... unless i cant access some sats that may be of entertainment value......

yeh i'm picking stuff up its just that on weaker SATs\transponders it can show BERR if i adjust my LON to compensate then its ok in most cases as its just slighlty off......i think i'm going to do a full sweep East to west on the weekend to see what i'm missing....hopefully should be ok with the compebsated USAL info
