I don't know if anyone has a new Al Jazeera sports card, but I have just got a 12 month one (today).

So I inserted it into my dreambox and it activated (with todays date), but only has 3 months on it.

I then got out my technomate 1600 (blew the dust off) and viaccess red cam out and put it in there and still 3 months.

So I contacted the seller who says that when it's activated it gives you 3 months and then 12 months after.

This to me is very dubious, but could be possible.

So has anyone got one?

Are there any 3 months cards floating about? (My Thinking)

Any advice really.

Id be suspicious m8....these timed cards (ART etc) when Ive had them always cut out on the day you;d expect them to.

I dont think they get any further permission or update after you've activated them and I've not read anywhere else what you've been told.... there was a similar thing a couple of years ago with ART cards being sold as 12mnth when they were 6mnth and in some cases I think even 1mnth ( they were cards issued for duration of world cup finals)

Try and get it replaced m8-you were under the impression you were buying 12mnth..and let us know how you get on.....

I'm glad it's not only me....

If I could just find someone with a new al jazeera sports card and ask them....

you could always try some sort of internet forum m8 :)

lol

Its dodgy, I know a few people who were scammed by this trick a few years back. It was a regular scam with 3 month Art cards. After the 3months you contact them and say its expired and not renewed, they feck you about for weeks saying they will get the renewal signal sent, then sent again, etc, until you give up and get angry. As its after 3 months you cannot claim your money back and they just say its your dodgy equipment and also the subs shouldnt be used outside the country of issue.

Its a scam. Send it back and claim a refund while you can.

Well that's what i thought as well pinkhelmets.
That is why the first thing that I done was check the dates.
I remember the ART card scam & that is why my 'bull shit' radar went onto full alert.

I have contacted the seller and I am just waiting on his reply.

Definitely check again.

BUT in my other case, I bought a Cyfra+ card last year. It should last for 6 months. When I first received the card and inserted into the receiver, it was shown to expire in a month time. So, i email the ebay seller and he told me it will be updated at the 1st/2nd of every month for 6 months... and it was TRUE...

So, this might be the same case in your card....I am just trying to share my experience.

But, defo check with the seller to confirm it....

Hope this helps.

OK I'm in a dilemma now.

I have spoken to the guy again and he says when you put the card in you get 3 months.
When the card ends it then updates for 12 months.
He say 'the dealer' he bought them off says the is because it's the new viaccess system and so they don't get switched off immediately.

He says that I have his mobile & address and any problems after 3 months etc....

My problem is that, by then it will be too late.
The other thing is that this card could update.

Also this card is off fleabay and paid by paypal.
They say that the item is not as described, to return.
But you only get 10-45 days to file a claim.
Technically at the moment it is a three month card and is not a 12 month month card, but it is one update away....

So do I return it as not described or do I bite the bullet and stay with it??

id return it m8

if he wont accept the return, file a dipsute wil paypal

I agree with Fearona and Digidude, return it. Scammers are good at making you believe them, but the fact is its a 3 month card and it will expire, leaving you with no chance of a refund or paypal dispute.

Ok update time.

I messaged the seller at 2.30pm yesterday.
Now usually when he says everything is ok, he usually responds within a few hours.

But amazingly he hasn't responded yet.
mmmmm I think my first thoughts of scam are coming to fruition.

So i'm giving him until 9pm tonight to get in touch or I shall open a dispute with paypal (not ebay, because I paid by paypal.)

When you know for sure he is not getting back to you can you let us know who it is? Save others the misfortune.

Si
