I have just got myself a caravan and plan to use it alot i have virgin media at home and have never got into the sat scene now i was thinkin of gettin a sat dish and tripod stand for it which i seen from wizard which can take a 1m dish. What i was wondering is what is the best reciever to get and what sat to point at and what channels can i expect to get i know its not goin to be easy but once i decide on what equiptment im goin to buy ill do alot of reading so i have some sort of idea what im doing.

The technomate 1500 is a very easy to use a well supported receiver. Really though it will depend on what you are looking to receive because i'm sure you wont want to be setting up a motorised dish on a tripod each time you go caravanning.
So maybe you will want the standard uk chans like bbc & itv and loads of general english stuff? If so then you can just use a cheap sky digibox & sky dish. If you are looking to receive movies & football then you could use a 70cm fixed dish with a 'monoblock' lnb that will get hotbird & astra1, with using a technomate 1500.
Hope that helps.

Premiere has a decent choice of films, in english. You wont always need to enter keys daily. Premiere hasnt changed for a few weeks now but D+ package do change keys more regular, maybe every couple of days. However, yes you can enter keys by using the remote on a tm1500 and it is easy to do this way.
That dish seems fine to me and its the size i'd choose out of those various ones the seller has. All you will need to add is the monoblock type lnb (to get hotbird and astra1 at same time) or you could just use it with the standard lnb and just get astra1.

i have just bought a dreambox 600 with a cable tuner would i be better just buying a sat tuner for this rather goin for the technomate?

hi scott, you will need a internet connection to get softcams keys etc unless the channels are auto update unless you take your reciever home from the caravan to update or get someone to phone you with keys you may struggle to keep up with updates thats assuming you dont have a connection at your caravan, ive been trying to talk my dad into getting a dish so i can use his van at the weekends and not worry about missing the footy lol honestly im only thinking of him.

edit **** sorry didnt read the full thread properly.

you can setit up at home using your pc and get premiere and tps working, but you wont be able to get D+ on it unless you take a laptop with you to edit the softcam when they change the keys
