I am totally new to this thing and don't really understand the terminology used. I've tried to read through threads but became lost fast. I have a TV that scanned a few channels through the areal that are encrypted such as G.O.L.D and Setanta Sports. Now I am wondering is there a card that I can put in this slot to let me watch these channels (Ones that dont require a subscription)?

Any help would be appreciated

As far as I know only the sony bravias have a cable tuner, but maybe someone knows different.

cheers

I do have a Bravia: kdl40x3000
Top of the line. I didn't tune the TV in via cable though because my area doesn't have cable :(. The encrypted channels were tuned in via the Ariel. Does this mean I can't use a programmable card?

need to look at accessing the encrypted channels via a hack using the remote with daily codes.....there a few sites doing this

Forget it. GOLD and Setanta are using a none cracked seca2 version via dvb-t (uk freeview).

Thanks, straight up confirmation. Unfortunately, I hoped for someone not to say this but I guess that's just the way it is...
