Hi
Got new dm500c other day, got uk04 flashed on it ok, converted db2 service file ok, but error channel not available on all channels

strengths were

ber = 262143
snr = 45???
sig = 27756

so i went to argos and bought the £8 single booster

now thay are

ber = 262143
snr = 45???
sig = 27242

so it appears booster did no good for me -_- any help appreciated
booster box suppose to go upto 14db gain and its on max

thanks

I'm thinking that you need the opposite of a booster.... an attenuator.
A 3db or 6db attenuator is what you will most probably need, to LOWER your signal. You can pick these up from Maplins or eBay, etc.

If you find that you are still not receiving anything then maybe this is the first case of a dead tuner for Dreambox 500c...

Have you also tried doing a SERVICE SCAN instead of converting DBOX2 service files? Just a thought.

I've had issues with signal/picture quality particularly with ITV2,bought a booster which worked but then froze the channel pics randomly every 10-20 mins.My signal was averaging 29555.
Not one to be defeated i had to remove booster and loose ITV2,messing about last night/this a.m i fitted a 6db attenuator to the feed into DB.
Bingo get ITV2 and now my signal has increased to 33300?i was lead to believe attenuators decrease the quality of the incoming signal?it has had the opposite effect for me.
Perhaps try it yourself.

Beat me to it:Cheers:

I get these readings from transponder 19 I have tried 2 different signal boosters and no go I might try an attenuator!

Same here mate I have them same problem with transponder 19 but also a few other channels and like you guys my readings are strange. Tried a booster it aint worked. Let us now if the attentuator worked might try that if it helps.

The attenuator will not decrease the quality

An attenuator is a telecommunication device that reduces the amplitude of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform.

I think it's common practice for the cable line to be attenuated at the feed or indeed in the box on the wall outside.

A strong signal is just as BAD as a weak signal (in some cases it can be much worse) aka ever got a small shock from yer cable feed?

Thanks Guys

Luckily i had a -3db attenuator and did a scan rather than a bouquet conversion
and now i have channels, sometimes i get blocks and stuff, so i might try a -6 one
anyway, think it might still too strong, atleast i now have channels at least :D

cheers
