What do I need in order to replace the boot up img. I have linux installed and would like to change the img to say a pic of the weans :)

Have a wee look at this mate, it might help.

seems a lot of hard work

download logoviewer (dbox2 area)
select logo-fb
load logo
save as bild.m1v
rename bild
doesn't need a whole page :)

you will need to be able to edit the squashfs area and if it's a dw image then it/they will not be called bild

In the latest dw neutrino they are in /share/tuxbox/neutrino/icons as boot1 to boot5

think pli jade has bild but not sure on any other images.

hi mate did you get your bootup logo changed .. ive been trying to do this but tuxbox logo viewer doesnt seem to want to ftp to my box.. running the latest dw image.

it won't save to the box.
It does say to save the file it doesn't say load it to the box.
there is info for editing the squashfs in the school area.

ive tried using the program to get the file from the box also mate it just says cant ftp.. when i change the settings and save them the password wont save in the ftp settings section of logo viewer

It won't save to the box no matter what you do

Maybe that will give you a hint

from my post

save as bild.m1v

Hopefully you can take a subtle hint ?

I can change my Dbox2 picture as easy as pie, but for some reason if I tinker with my DM500 the blimmin thing locks up upon reboot and I always end up having to flash the image back on.

:err:

You need to edit the squashfs and the boot screens are in /share/tuxbox/neutrino/icons as boot1 to boot5 they are .m1v files without the extension.

They were put in the read only squashfs section to make it hard for dealers to change them and claim the images for their own.

There are 2 dealers I know of that used to rebrand dbox2 images and pretend they had made them in my area. maybe other areas don't have this problem but it gives me the hump when I see a rebranded image from a dealer.

Digitalworldz make the only supported dm500 neutrino image that I know off and don't see why it shouldn't be branded as such, people also know where to come from the branding when they have a problem and don't have to pay some lowlife trader that rips them off.

I have heard a whisper that dw are releasing a dm600pvr enigma image within the next few days from cvs which isn't a pli clone which will be another digitalworldz 1st, hopefully it will also be dw branded.

Makes sense when you put it that way mate.

I only wanted to put a picture of my kids on my mums box though, lol

cheers for the advice.

you can add the line
/bin/showframe /var/bin/bild
to /var/etc/init
before the cams are loaded and put your picture after conversion as explained above into /var/bin as bild or whatever you want to name it.

i wasnt trying to save it to the box i said in my second post i tried to retrieve it from the box lol no need for the giant red font

It won't save from the box, logoviewer is for the dbox2 and is only used for a quick and easy convert for the dreambox.

It's saturday and had a few beers so may have read what you asked wrong.

np mate.. right i followed the thing about mksquashfs and managed to change the boot up screen.. but is there any way to change the shutdown screen.. i changed the shut6 file but that made no difference and the only other shutdown sounding file is shutdown.pal not sure what to open that with but.

logoviewer
extra's
neutrino raw viewer
you need the raw and the pal files.

If you can get this far then you should have a go at compiling an image.
