How do i connect to the dm500c via router?

The box isnt getting IP from router DHCP so do i have to hook it up to tv to set it?
Im using the standard patch cable from VM modems

You would have to have DHCP enabled on the DM but once it is you will not need the TV.

How come its not enabled by default.

I reflashed thoe whole image new anyway. Just resorting the channels is a pain lol.
