Hey guys long time no speak. Hope your having a nice holiday/christmas/newyear.

Anyway,

Having a bit of trouble playing back recordings. I have updated from 1.6.5 to 2.0 but its still exactly the same. Its making me think its a PC problem.

Do i need to have any codecs on the PC to have it working? I don't like filling my comps full of codecs so if i do which specific one is it?

The recording is playing back fine, i just don't get any picture. I can hear the sound just fine. The main thing is that when it goes blank i can't see anything, including the menu. I have to remember the button combo's to do things. Even if i set it back to TV the picture doesn't come back, i have to reboot the image. I also tried restarting enigma but it did nothing too.

As i said, i was thinking it was something on the PC but the fact that the menu's disappear and i can't get it back without a reboot is making me think otherwise.

Any ideas?

Some things to note,

It did it with 1.6.5 and with 2.0
I can't see the menu's when it does it so i have to fly blind
I've tried going off and onto the scart channel
I can watch the recordings via VLC on the computer

Thought i better add some highlights as i realised my post was a little long and the attention span of most is a little short lol.

Hi Scotster,

Nice to see you here again. :)

Try using a different emu. There is gbox, evocamd and mgcamd available to download via the addons menu.

Try switching to the old tuner driver and make another recording.

This problem appears to be quite common, and doesn't seem to be resolved by emu or tuner switches. I have yet to see anyone come up with a solution, though some have suggested that temperature affects certain boxes and causes this. Not sure what to make of that, as I've only had it happen once or twice myself.

Been out of the scene for AGES. Feel as if i'm having to learn it all again lol.

Anyway's, cheers for the info. I've tried just about everything i can think of cept letting the box cool down completely (cam's etc). It worked fine when i first got it but its not really something i have used in ages so it could be heat issues.

The strange thing is that the recordings are perfect. If i use VLC to play them they are fine, good clear picture and audio. Its only the playback thats an issue.

As i said, at first i thought it was down to the PC as i had just reformatted it but i'll let it cool down and try it.

Ok, just noticed that DW2.0 won't let me record.

Not really sure what the problem is but when i record i get a ts file and another one different from the one i used to get. I tried to record on new years eve but when i went to check it the file was a lot smaller than it should be (around 200mb for 1 hour) and when i tried to play it, it seemed as if it was jittering forward 20 seconds at a time so was absolutely useless.

Any ideas anyone?

Think i might go back to 1.6. I couldn't view it through the dreambox but i could at least record it.

Think i might bring my dbox back down the stairs lol. was much less hassle.

Anyone found a solution to this problem as I am experiencing the exact same.

Using Digital world latest and Evocamd 2.12
