Apologies for the Newbie type question. Not new to the game but got comfortable with what I had I took my eye off the ball with new developments.

I've had a DM800 running for around 7 years now and despite the odd issues here and there it has been pretty good. Also got a few Openboxes running on fixed mini dish (all good except pretty unreliable).

I initially set up THE dm800 as a motorised system taking in most major satellites from 0 - 28. Again in the main its been pretty successful. Over the past year or so the dish would often suddenly move west when simply changing a channel - it would then take an age to move back east. My guess was a dodgy motor. In the advent of Kodi and IPTV the need for the motorised dish diminished to the extent I took the motor down today and binned it. I stuck the 1m dish back up on the mound fixed to 28E and all running great.

I have had my eye on the Zgemmea H2H for a month or two now and the big question is what will my £90 or so give me beyond the DM800 I have running now. I have a live cable feed to so I am guessing I could gain back HD previously lost. I also have an M8 Kodi(drives me mad freezing up).

The Kodi M8 and DM800 can find a new home elsewhere in the house.

Is the Zgemma H2H the way forward or should I be looking at something else.

Well the most obvious is it will give you both cable and Sat at the same time. The CPU is quicker and it has more memory over the 800.

The Zgemma wont run native Kodi but a Vu Solo2 would but you would have to buy the se with the Tuner slot and run the sat cable combo tuner.

You seem pretty clued up, so I would go HTPC, so a PC with DVB cards both S2 and C, run LibrElec or OpenElec, then TVHeadend to control the cards.

Basically you end up with a Box that is your Live TV and kodi combined plus lets you watch your Live TV in any room that you have Kodi, your only restriction is the amount of tuners you have, but you can add more to a PC

Clued up you think

Little if any of that made much sense to me. I have been away too long.

A box under the tv with benefits is as far as my ambitions stretch - If I can get some HD channels back and IPTV as a wee bonus all through one box then I would be delighted.

it really is not that difficult, plenty of tuts around to help you. Make sure you get a Nline rather than a CLine as the nline can go directly into TVHeadend where as a cline will require oscam which is something else you would need to setup
