i have a dm500 and a tecnomate 5402, both with lines from different servers. They were both working fing fine up until a few days ago. the problem is that at approximately 6pm everyday they both start freezing and scrambling nearly every 5 minutes. this lasts until late at night and then in the morning its fine again. i dont think its the server as both boxes have different servers and my mates is working at all times. could it be the Lnb or could the dish have moved due to the winds we've had recently. any help would be appreciated.

Do you download lots and traffic shaping is affecting it?

no i dont download much, what is traffic shaping? i wasnt having this poroblem up until a week ago. it all started after we had them strong winds a few days ago. that is why i was thinking it could be the dish or the lnb. i checked my internet speed at the time of scrambling and it was 6.57mbps. i just checked it again now whilst its not scrambling and the spee is 12.46. could that be affecting it?

^^ Maybe, But 6.5mb is more than enough. Glitching is porbably due to packet loss.
Check you ping at both times (when its glitching and not)
On pingtest.net
If you losing packets then thats the problem.

im really struggling with this problem now and im also confused. when i do the ping test on pingtest.net it shows a packet loss of around 30% but when i do a ping test by going on to start-cmd- ping google.com it shows as 0%. i spoke to my isp and they are saying that theres no problem with my internet. i wonder what it could be.

Packet Loss of 30% is huge, it should be 0. Im guessing either a router problem. Or an isp problem. Almost certain that this is the reason why your getting glitching.

i too have been experiancing the same syptoms aswell for the last 4 weeks. having spoke to vm i finally got them to admit it was down to them and gave them 4 weeks to sort the problem out. i have found that mgcamd handles the bb problems better than c**am. get onto your provider and tell them your leaving if they dont sort it... by the way i had a engineer visit and he was blaming my browsing history and deleted all my cookies ect, but the problem returned next day at peak time. ive posted a couple of test details from pingtest, regards mdt

i finally managed to sort the problem out by changing the router and its fine now. I wasn't to happy with the response I got from my ISP. they said they couldn't help me out with this problem as I wasn't having any internet issues with my computer even if I was having internet issues with something else. I don't understand their reasoning as they are the ones providing the internet service. it shouldn't matter what I'm using it for. thanks for all the help

Long shot, but check all you cables, try replacing them, swap filters etc. If it still fails, then ring up your isp and tell them your getting alot of packet loss. See what they say.
They should be able to improve your line quality, (which will take a mb off your speed) But may help. So its worth a try.

It definately looks like its an isp problem, packet loss of 30% is totally unacceptable, try a skype call to someone and see if it is possible, means very little but it would be something to hit back at the isp if its no good.
heres a pingtest from my isp a 3mb vodafone dsl connection.
