hey all

went to fit a dish today at my mates mums house and its still not working...9 hours later!

i had it working within an hour but then they wanted the cable ran into the loft into a distribution unit...thats where the problems started

it wouldnt work going into the distribution unit, then it wouldnt work again direct from the dish to the box

i tried 2 different reels of cable, i think the cable might be fekked

when i disconnected the original cable (i ran it in through the window first) it was working perfect but then 6 hours that cable wouldnt work?

can anyone help me out?

Cheers

what do ya mean by wouldnt work, not getting any signal on box, you've put this in the dreambox section so is it connected to a c/s, is the network setup correctly, is lnb and dish correct and alligned, so many things it could be!

it was connected to a dm500s and was showing snr of 92% after i tightened up dish, i then disconnected the cable and from then on it never worked again

dish was not tocuhed again only to screw on cable to lnb

its not connected to cs yet

did you do a scan and see the channels working, ie bbc1. is the cable brand new cable you have pulled, weird how it worked for a few hours then all of a sudden its off, could it be the box, i would try another box maybe an original sky box or another dreambox, maybe its the box thats fecked.

What do you mean by a a distribution unit ? is it a single lnb have you had more than one box connected to it ?

Aerial amplifier or sat amplifier, they work on different frequencies ?

when i ran it into the loft it was a SLX DVB-T distributor so i knew right away it wouldnt work but the woman was adamant it would so i tried it a few times to show her it wouldnt

then i tried to join the cable that came from the dish into the cable that went from the distributor into the back bedroom where the box will be but that wouldnt work either?

tried two different dm500s but they gave the same readout, one i put those dm500s' back onto my dish they worked perfect so it cant be the boxes?

i'm going back today with a completely new roll of cable and new LNB's if its neither of them then i'm completely stumped

the SLX DVB-T distributor will be for terrestrial tv not sat

have you check the connectors for any loose strands of the outer braid touching the inner wire ???

I agree with Mags. This silly know-it-all woman has cost the OP a shedload of wasted time and expense.

How on earth can a 6 Way Terrestrial signal splitter possibly work in a Satellite installation, when it has NO WAY of passing the required voltage though from the sat receiver up to power the LNB?

Cheers- AL ;)

the cable was broken somewhere in the length!

thanks for all the help

Are you saying that you now have it working, via the DVB-T splitter, m8?

Cheers- AL

Op had said straight away that he kmew it wouldn't work and only tried it to keep the woman happy.

sorry just wanted to clear that one up, lol
