Hi

I have a clone dm800, rev l3 tuner.

Was about to f**k it out the window, over the glitching hd channels, and the odd sd channel.

Tried a couple of the fixes to no avail. In line amp, cooling, heating etc.

Was getting a snr of 96 percent on BBC News, and 79-81 on the Hd channels put still glitching every 2 seconds.

So I decided to forget about sky and move my motorised dish to a different sat. 13 east.

Well ive been watching a hd movie for the last hour not one glitch, fart or freeze, and my snr is showing 92 percent on every hd channel.

So my question now is, if the tuner is capable of this, surely its not the problem. Maybe an alignment issue, or lnb

Any Thoughts??? Would still like to get Sky working

You dont say whose sly card you are watching, if its your own check your settings, you say this happens on sd channels also so my guess is the problem is not at your end.

mines a dm800, rev l3 tuner and dont get your fault on movie hd chnls

could be server prob.

id say it was an overloaded server. 28.2 is the most popular one. have you tried your own card or different server?

i get no glitch on any hd channels 4.8e ok 1west ok 26e ok loads i go on there fine i just get espn that glitches now and gain

the tuners get saturated with such a strong signal, which swamps the good signal and shoots the BER up off the scale, making the really strong signal bad

generally, the electronics should be able to equalise the signal when switching from SD to HD, but it cannot deal with the extra data, so people fit inline amps, which while appearing to clear the channels better, actually makes the problem worse

Im using a friends server, he said the prob is not his end.

Forgot to mention on a lot of the hd channels on sky, the snr goes from 59-80 really fast up and down, this would seem to be the problem. Need to stabilize it.

My Ber is always at 0, which is good, and it says 15.30db.

Whatever that means. Is it to high???

Also one other question, the dm500 had a cool option of veiwing a channel in the backround, while nudging the dish in positioner setup. It was great for stopping the frezing. But when I go into the positioner setup on the 800. You can't see the channel behind. Which sucks. Is there any plugins or sorts.

Would be really handy for checking dish position and see if the frezing calms down.

Failing this I am going to mess with the lnb scew.

Thanks as always guys for your input.

I have just posted a tool in the downloads section called Enigma Signal Meter, this will let you control the dish via your pc/laptop while viewing the channel you are fine tuning.

I have my own local card for 28.2E the only HD channel I have glitching issues with is Discovery HD, everything else is fine since I got a replacment tuner under warranty (L3).
I dont use an inline amp, although I have tested one, it fixes Discovery HD glitching, but kills some other channels completely "Tune Failed".
Im fairly sure I have a slight dish alignment issue or LNB issue though, i've tested the box at someone elses house anf absolutely no issues on any HD channels and SNR levels are better.
Too bad my dish cant be accessed anymore since the new conservatory went up, would have to climb up next doors roof to get to it...Sly techs refused to do it...I might see if I can find a local independant to sort it...or just leave it..

Do you get glitching on BBC HD?

The majority of my glitching comes from a bad share. I've got a FTV card in mine and now never got any glitching on 4HD and FiveHD.

I'll check tonight, my issue cant be a bad share...my card is local on my LAN I dont recieve shares from anyone, although not physically in the the Dm800hd, it's in the same room.
Im fairly convinced it's slight dish alignment issue or LNB.

Cheers everyone.

unfort enigma signal meter does not allow you to nudge your dish. Plus it wont connect to my box any way.

**Interesting update though**

Last night I was arsing around with the box and was connecting and disconnecting the sat feed many times, now today, the hd channels are far better, only glitching ever so slightly and not very often. Even Discovery has stabilized, hopping from 71-72, when yesterday it was going from 50-79 rapidly.

Strange.

Me thinks it could be my cable.

ive set up a few of these on sly installs with l3's and every one needs the dish/lnb tweaking to get good discovery/espn hd without glitching, a little off and it's easy to blame the tuner cos that's what everyone says it is, in my experience they are very sensitive which may be good or bad but im yet to have to swap a tuner to fix these channels
