Well I have got my sat set up (After the original thread I made where we all collectively got my mates DM500 motorised up and running), Anyway back to my install - I went for the Dm800 with a tm2600 motor and a 1m dish. After a bit of fiddling I got it all set up.

Now for the strange bit - We got a "proper" compass so we could get spot on due south (Just so happens that from my location due south is also spot on 4w sat) - So anyway we get due south and set it up using Gemini 4.6 and usals but apart from the 1st sat (4w) nothing else would pick up - 2 days I fumbled about and in the end we noticed that when usals was driving my motor to say 13e then it was actually going closer 19.9e (according to the motor markings). Now I know that given the fact that my location is Longitude: -3.9073° then the motor should read 13+3.9 = 16.9.......or dam close to it. So I went back indoors had a wee think......then thought some more and then BINGO I decided to lie to my DM800 and altered my location from Longitude: -3.9073° to Longitude: -0.0000° - It only bloody well worked. I have an excellent signal on all the sats from 15w - 33.0e - I haven't bothered to try any more extremities either way yet....but the fact is I have caught the arc.....But it still baffles the life out of me lol.

Has anyone had any similar issues to that above that i describe ? Also wonder if it is image specific - IE if i took my Gemini 4.6 off and replaced with say Jade PLI - then would my usals revert to normal ? Don't get me wrong I have absolutely no intention of doing something as daft as changing something that now works without issue.......I was just wondering if any of you guys had come across this type of thing before. And what was/is the cause of it.

Hi m8

I had the same problem with my DM8000.
When i set up my dm7020, i did it manually and did manage to get the full
ark but was missing 42e and 30w which i did not use anyway and was quite
happy with it.
When i got the dm8000, the motor was still setup for the 7020 and i got
nothing. So i pointed everything to 1w and used this as my zero setting.
I then used usals and sent the rig to 13e and nothing, so i untightened the
bolts on the motor and pushed the whole rig round till i got BBC News on 13e
and locked all the bolts down. It was only a few degree,s out. I then set usals to work to find sats and channels. Not had a problem since, i get from 45e to 30w. ( not tried any further than 30w yet ) The signals i get are very good and are better than with the 7020. I pick up 30 sats and a lot more channels. I,m situated just outside Leeds West Yorkshire and use a 1.1m Triax dish with a 0.1 Quad lnb, and of course the dm8000 also does HD. I do have the correct long and lat settings, set in usals for my area.

Just a little bump to see if anyone else had come across this ? Do you think if I turned my rig round by 3 degrees then that would "sort" the usals to the numbers that it should be ? I am pretty much in the leave well alone mode at the moment.........but I do like perfection lol.
