Hi guys,

Changed my internal fan round so it is now almost silent, and got an external USB fan on the top of the box.

2 quick questions

1. For people with external fans, do you have the hot air being drawn out, or cold air being forced in ?

2. How do I find the box internal temp ? Is it a plugin ? Pressing Blue, then Yellow only tells you the HDD temp (which I don't have).

Thanks

ive got a usb double fan with the dm800 sitting on top air blowing into from underneath.i dont know if this is right but i have a hd and the temp is 30.

i have both fans, internal and ext. usb blowing air in, when they are off i get upto 49c but when both are on i can get down to 32c, i think digi got 23c or something like that
thats with a hdd in and running and using the plugin, blue>yellow

Cheers Bod - mine is setup like that now

Quite surprised at how quiet the 3 fans are when on together !!

Is it worth getting the HDD ?

I mean, I know it's no Sky plus, but is it worth getting ?

Can you record a program on the same sat, but on a different channel, or is it purely only the channel you are watching (or have on if your out).

Also, how big is an hours SD recording, and an hours HD recording ?

Hi Chris.
- usually the most efficient set-up is to extract the hot air from the device.
- internal HDD is ...GREAT ! You can record 1 channel and view all other channels available on that same transponder (which is usually quite limited). I'm frequently watching a recorded program & recordind another simultaneously...(1 issue: sometimes the image stays black...it is in fact recording but a bug makes it look black...a reboot solves this)
- SD vs HD. A HD program is 6MB/s while a SD is 3MB/S.
