I cant seem to flash my Dm800, i have tried with Dreamup v1.3.2.1 and dreamuplan,

I get to the "connection prepared now switch on the dreambox" which of course i have done, i have waited for about 5 minutes as the 800 does take a while to boot but still nothing.

What am i doing wrong.

Flash it via your web broswer - much easier !

Guide knocking about somewhere on here as well

no luck i have been everywhere trying to get a rs232 card for my pc cause it has not got one, i'm using a usb to rs232 which works great but i need to try anything to see if it works.

Any idea people please :(.

Whats actually up?

The DM800 is well known for needing the psu stuck in about 20 times before it boots.

Make sure if you've got a clone its a clone safe image.

Mine does this now & again mate - its a feature of the clones !!

Turn off by the wall, unplug for 1 min & try again.

I tell ya, it had Gemini on it was working fine but always i need to play about with things and wanted Pli on it, also i know they are safe with clones, well i hope.

So i booted it with the power button held down and flashed it through my browser, now when i boot it (plug the lead in) it just says dream multimedia on the front lcd.

I have tried plugging it in quite a few times but i'm gonna try about 20 or 30 times now, why i await you good peoples help :(

Thanks for the link mate but i got a problem, i cant flash it now i cant connect to the box using my usb to null modem cable. i am gutted

Ouch, Dm800's are different to any other dreambox, you need specific images to work with clones, you need to patch all images as the every image maker uses the latest drivers, which dont work on clones!

Why wont your usb to null modem cable work?

OK, can you not connect to it via your internet browser ?

If not, have you tried using your null modem cable & Dreamup ?

Just to add, flashing via web browser will take about 3 mins - flashing via null modem cable will take about an hour - so dont despair if it takes ages !!

Web browser should be your 1st choice, null modem is a backup incase you mess up your box !!

Ok I have managed to solve this hallelujah. Here's how.

Whats needed:

1.Dreamup v1.3.3.4
2.Nabiloblackhole image very good for clones you can also get Sly epg for this.
3.Patients.
4.And legs to jump up and down when it works lol.

1. Make sure your Dm800 has been switched off for a good few minutes
2. Connect your Null Modem cable and start Dreamup v1.3.3.4 (it should now recognise the receiver and load)
3. Now load the Nabilo Image.

Few minutes you should be done.

I tried everything and this was the only thing that worked but gotta be patient.

Cheers for everyone's help.

The new Dreamup through the Null modem cable was well quick by the way, gonna try flashing a 500 and see how well it works :)

You proably had the network ticked?

Pull the psu out of your DM800 and get some practise on getting it to boot up...

No tried ticking and unticking the network it was not working with the older Dream up as soon as i got Dreamup v1.3.3.4 it worked straight away.

tried the Naiblo image it looks good but as per dreambox sat positioner is a nightmare, it has usals but its not having it.

Oh Yeah have got to unplug a few times to get it to boot, but it seems normal for the 800's ay!

Easiest thing to do is select USALs, Put in your Long & Lat, them download a channel list from CPanel (or get one off the net and upload it via dreambox edit).

When i use dreamup to flash an image via network, i still need to have the null modem cable connected! Wasnt aware that you can just flash via ethernet/web browser!
