Best Image for DM500s Clone

Hello Guys

I am new to satellite scene and have taken the plunge to buy a DM500s from linuxsat. I am assuming it is clone as originals are not sold anymore. I just wanted to know what is the best image to put on it. So far I know of two Gemini 4.20 and Pli Jade 3. Which one would u recommend

I am pretty sure i have read that for gemini image only version upto 4.20 can be installed, is that true.

Pli Jade - YES.
Nabilosat - YES.
Gemini - CRAP.

I really only use these two TBH, the rest are poop IMO.

could someone please point me in the direction for nabilosat image for dm500 clone

join the forum and dl from there
I dl the darkstar 2 image from a 3rd party and it would not work
it created many problems for me and held me up for a good while
DL And install darkstar 2
using DREAMUP (its available in many places and not hard to find )
the you need to hook the box to the net and dl the latest cam package
its in the dl section contained in the image
then ya need a cs line if thats your intention
and then TOTAL COMANDER ( its shareware and its simple to use )
ya need to add the line using ftp
Im writing a basic guide to get dreamboxes running but i have very little time currently ...
if ya get stuck post and if i see it i will try reply
but as i say over the nxt week or 2 i will only be popin in now an then

1st step
you need a null modem cable and obviously a pc with a serial port
it works like this (thx bod I stole bits of this lol )
connect null to pc and to dreambox
NOTE !! before connecting power to dreambox
click connect in flash wizard/dreamup , you will be prompted to connect power, box will initialize
then select flash and choose ur image, ( I used Nabilosat Darkstar II )

Its a matter of personal preference... PLI is a good starting point

No it cant mate I think he misread dm500

thanks for replies guys.I have succesfully installed pli jade image on my dreambox also configured C line on my cccam file.

This is out of topic but i have dish its a big one and has one lnb connected. however i would like to add another lnb to the dish would this be possible. also i have looked at different types of lnb. and i think the quattro would be good as i can get four services (frequency i,e aatra 28.2 e hotbird etc) from one lnb. is that right. Sm i right in saying that i will need a diseqc switch to connect the four feeds coming in and then connect that to the dreambox. help appreciated.

Hi, Just got a DM500s Clone, is the PLI OSCAM image in the downloads ok to use, Box came with ENIGMA pre loaded and it looks a bit unhelpfull. Any advise would be appreciated as i know next to nothing about Dreambox.

Hi, the best image is Commando 14.6 unless you happen to be beta testing 14.7

Install the softcams on the current image and copy them to your PC using an ftp client such as filezilla.(Reason for this is that it will save you asking where do I download the cams from?) You should be able to install cams using the remote. Flash Commando and then transfer you cams back. You will also need to tarnsfer the "init fix" that PaphosAl made.

have to agree with abu commando all the way do not forget to read the guide in tux box for your tips etc otherwise Al will whip your butt with a wet towel .
you could say that this image is even wife/girlfriend friendly
