Ok so i'm getting my Penta85 mounted tomorrow with a TM2300.

Hopefully this will be a painless exercise but i just want to see what peoples opinions are on how i should go about the task.

I currently have BH012 on my clone dm800 and my plan is to do as follows:

  • Install Likra channel set on my dm800.
  • Once dish is installed and connected to dm800 input long/lat from sat nav data or multimap.
  • Try and locate 1W and fine tune dish till best signal is obtained.
  • See if other sats are then auto picked up.

As this is my first motor dish install i'm hoping it as easy as that, but i have a few questions which hopefully some can help with.

Is the above methodology the easiest way to go about it (ie, install channel list 1st)?
Would 1W be the best for me to try to locate first (i'm based in north east, post code sr8)?
When i talk about fine tuning the dish to get strongest signal should this be done by tweaking dish manual on brackets or by jogging the motor from the dm800?
When one sat is found should the dish then aout find the other ones if i'm using simple mode and long/lat setup?

Any help and thought much appreciated.

Cheers

Yeah i'd already read digidudes guide and its quality (as are most he's produced), the only thing with his guide is that its in relation to a Technomate box and I have a DM800.

Could I assume that I should still just try and follow his receiver setup guide as closely as possible using my DM800 or is there a specific method that is best for the DM800 to avoid pulling my hair out?

Only reason for asking rather than jumping straight in is that I have an installer doing this for me so he will only be with me for a limited time and as i don't do heights i want to try and get it right first time!!

ensure the mounting pole is dead straight m8, im an installer, and if i have to take a pole down and put it back up straight, it adds about 45 mins onto a job

you can set everything up, enter your USALS details, highlight the tuner and press OK, this took me hours to work out looking for the details lol

then it will all be ready for the installer to alaign ;)

I did it with a DM500 which didn't seem to want to do the USALS thing so had to manually find the sats but I think the dm800 works OK with USALS so should be same as Digi's guide m8.

Thanks for that mate,

So just to clarify you reckon I should get the dish mounted in roughly the correct position, then put all my USALS data into my DM800, then look for 1W, then get the installer to manually adjust the dish to gain the optimum signal?

Cheers for your help
