Wasn't to sure where to put this, but as both receivers are are DM500's I thought it would go nicely in here!

OK, so I have a motorised dish, and a spare dm500 - i want to set it up in my bedroom (main dreambox downstairs) but I only have one feed from my dish. Could i use some sort of splitter to have two feeds ?

I will never really use both dreamboxs simultaneosly unless i have guests or family come over, so im not to fussed about an independent feed. I am curious though... Will i be able to watch different channels on the same sat? obviously if someone changes channels to a different sat, the other dreambox will just go blank I presume!

i believe witha duel LNB you could theoritecally watch what ever is on the sat the dish is pointed at.

however if you were to want to move the disgh you would have to do so by using the master box (one with the feed to the motor)

that would be the easyist + safest way way..

DISH - LNB1 - MOTOR - MASTER dm500
-------- LNB2 ------------- SLAVE DM500

just would mean running a new line from the LNB.

if you were to use a signle LNB, you wouldnt be able to change the channel at all.. on the second box

so a switch like the one illustrated could not be used at all? I could run a direct feed from the lnb to the slaved box, but if i wanted to change sat, i would have to go downstairs :(

Is there anyway to have multiple connections to the motor, even though i only have one feed coming from it?

Ideally, i would want to have control over the motor on both boxes, and be able to watch different channels on the same sat!

Thanks

in that case one box would have to be off at any time iirc

because its the lnb itself that wsitches it frequency and polarity to be able to lock on to the certain transponder..

off as in at the wall off, or standby?

no way to get multiple feeds in/out of the motor? eg via diseqc switch something like:

DISH - LNB - MOTOR - DISEQC SWITCH = RECIEVERS

i have a similar setup, main receiver in the living room connected to the motor, then the LNB (its a quad 0.1dB TM gold one) the bedroom connects straight to the lnb, as does the kitchen.

the living room controls what satellite they all point at, but they can then act independantly of each other as long as you dont try and view a different sat, cos you cant lol
