Any one know how long the guarantee is for?

I read under EU directive 1999/44/EC that all guarantees for all consumer goods sold within the EU have to be a minimum of 2 years.

However, wonder what Dream say it is as my box seems to have caught the 7025 dead box curse!!!

Started buzzing so turned it off before went to bed. In the morning was effectively dead.

On the backlight of the LCD display would come on, nothing else. Looking on the web and other forums, very common and appears to be the power unit. (This is what DREAM has also confirmed to me.) Strange that a mate's went with exactly the same problem 2 weeks earlier, from I presume the same batch as bought at similar times.

i have one like this in the house m8, it packed in about a year ago, but i havent been arsed to fix it yet lol

its normally dried out electrolytic capacitors in the power supply

if youre confident with a soldering iron, we should be able to talk you through doing the repair yourself :)

I am said mate, and can confirm that Dream advised that they offer a 2 year guarantee from purchase date and I should contact the dealer for it's free return and repair.
Funny thing is I did contact our friendly SouthEast dealer where i bought the box who omitted to tell me about the guarantee and also liberated over £100 from me for a fixed fee repair.
Needless to say there will be a colourful conversation when I collect the box up in the next couple of weeks.

only thing he should be taking of you is the postage m8 if anything don't think you should be even paying that well if you have to post to shop but its under guarantee so it should all be free what shop did you get it from would be good to know so people can know even try and get him on here to see what he has to say for him self

Quite right.
I'm going to phone him tomorrow and tell him what Dream have told me. I'll report back on how well he performs.

Good news, he said he'll refund the fixed fee when i go and pick the repaired box up. Any problems then i'll report back.

I sent my DB off direct and got back within 15 days. Good, quick service.

Little tip, if needing to send there are now courier broker websites like you get for hotel rooms. Instead of the usual £35 odd walk in cost for DHL to germany was about £14.50 and they pick up from any address. I think it was world parcel services or something.
