2 months ago I purchased the dreambox 600s pvr. Although when i initially purchased it, it came installed with a gemini project image, I was never happy with the image as I didnt believe that the box had been flashed properly.

last month I decided to use dreamup to flash DB600 with the Nabilosat Darkstar II image and use CCAM.

since doing this and running a scan 3 times now I notice that the channel listing for Astra 28.2 (aka Sly Tv) is missing many channels. Amongst the channels missing are:

Zee Music
Sunrise TV
Trouble

The first 2 channels that I mentioned are FTA channels and are available on everybodys sly pace receiver as a FTA channel and will appear as FTA channels on other satellite boxes- Dreambox or Technomate.

As mentioned in my introductory thread my dish is correctly skewed and alligned.

prior to owning the DB600 I owned a DB5620s- a very basic and old model in comparison, yet I managed to receive a complete channel list using the DB5620 for all channels available on Astra 28.2.

So I can only assume that the incomplete channel list is due to a problem with the Astra 28.2 channel listing on the Nabilosat Darkstar II image.

As a result of gemini project images destroying clone dreamboxes- due to the gemini bomb, and more recently the inability to access the hard drive when recent gemini project images are used on the dreambox 600 pvr. I am very reluctant to return to using gemini project images- unless a knowledgeable forum member can advise me of a trustworthy gemini image version that I can use on the DB 600pvr.

i have heard of another image that I have never used called jade PLi- Ive heard its meant to be ok. So can somebody please advise me:

which version of jade PLi will sort out my incomplete channel listing and give me the full list
is there a newer version of Gemini project that wont try to bomb my box
is there a newer version of a nabilosat image that i can use which will give me the full channel listing for astra 28.2

really appreciate some feedback here- the family are driving me nuts asking me why the channels are missing, and I havent got a clue.

Images have nothining to do with channels being recieved. Bacically you have three things to get the picture on the tv. exculding power, wires, scarts etc :)

1/ The image (everyone has a different opinion but in reality the all based of enigma)

2/ A good upto date channel list with a upto date satalites.xml this will give you a good foundation. Get yourself dreamboxedit and the use it to get the channel list listing in a way that suits you best. (good thing here is if channel changes freq etc, fire up dreamboxedit goto a decent site like kingofsat or lyngsat get the right info. Then make your changes and upload them to your box) It amazes me why people still sit there scanning these days.

3/ The a emu, again personal choice.

Do yourself a favour an forgot gemini images most of the boxes 500/600 floating round today are clones. The pli images are decent, i have not come across one image yet that gives you something you cant add yourself via a plugin. If you have to keep changing your images you must be doing something via ftp or have a dodgy box.

thanks for the response.

i had the DB5620 previously and was running the gemini project 4.10 image. this was connected directly to a sly minidish and I had no problems getting a complete channel list for sly - astra 28.2.

so i still do reckon that the images may have something to do with it.

as for the cam- im using ccam2.0.11- its the best for CS and viewing sly tv.

i dont know how to use dream edit but i do have the latest dreamset 2.23 so im going to give that a try first. if i have no joy then im going to flash a new jade pli image using dreamup.

ill keep you updated so watch this space

what i was trying to say is the satellite.xml file packed with the image is usually different (depending on date released) so if you either updated the satellites.xml file or get a upto to date channel list as these usually include the satellites.xml file you may get the channels you are missing.
So its not the actual image that is stopping these channel being recieved.

ok now im with you and were both on the same tracks

which leads me to the next question- where do i get the updated satellites.xml file for sly tv 28.2

also as im gonna be doing it for the first time im wondering if it will affect my channel lists on astra 19 and hotbird- i really hope not as i stated in my intro thread i use a 4 way diseqc to switch between 3 lnbs and its vital that all channel lists are complete and up to date

meanwhile im starting my hunt for an updated channel list for astra 28.2

Hi M8

Why don,t you just do a channel scan and delete what you don,t want.

Fezzy

thanks fezzy but a as i have done a channel scan 4 times already and still have the same channel list. The problem is that channels were missing in the first place- so deleting would not be the problem here- im trying to add the missing channels
