We just took delivery of two new boxes and I think I have killed them trying to flash gemini to them.

On the first box I went through the normal process of using dreamup to instal gemini but it kept coming back with the message "upload aborted". Tried to do it several times (including flash erase) and now when I plug the box in, the green power light comes on on the front of the box but nothing happens. No signal sent to tv, the power light doesn't blink as usual when the remote control is used.

On the second box dreamup wouldnt even connect but using Dreambox Control Center sofware I was able to connect to it. Using FTP I uploaded gemini to it, following all instructions to put it in the tmp folder and renaming it, then doing manual software update on the dreambox epert set up menu. All went well so it seemed, the screen showed update was happening ok. It finished and I then went to go back into the menus, but now I have another box with just the power light on and nothing else!!!

Have I just thrown my money down the tubes or can they be saved.

All and any help will be truly appreciated

As Gemini images are MAXVAR, they specify in the writeup that you need to use dreamup to flash it. This is because the partitions are different from a normal image.

The ONLY way to get them working again is to use Dreamup and a null modem cable. There's a guide on post #2 -->here<--.

Dreamup should always connect unless the box is severely knackered!

Untick the 'use network' box and only use your null modem cable, no ethernet cable is needed.

Thanks for the swift reply unfortunatly I get the message that I do not have permission to read them.

Regardless to that when I try using the dreamup sofware, it says the connection is prepared, now switch on the box, but nothing happens, the blue progress bar doesnt appear

Thanks guys, got one box sorted now. Unbeliveably the problem seems to have been that, although I had disconnected the leads at the TV, the fact I had left them in the DB caused the dreamup not to work.
