I want to be able to know what's on every channel without having to go to the channel physically.

Every time I am browsing through the bouquets (favourites), a few channel names have the current program next to them. The rest have nothing. The only way I can see what's on is by selecting the channel so that the now and next bar comes up and shows the current program and next.

How do I sort it so that the programs are readily available without having to go to the channel?

Also, can't I have a scrollable now and next bar without having to change channels?

Thanks

thanks mate. I'd like to keep my current image, so should I just use the Enigma 2 files?

What one should i install? I have a fixed dish for 28.2 Astra. Will this need to be updated regularly or will it fetch program info on its own regularly?

You need these three I think (I dont have a DM800 sorry)

enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_1.0-r36_mipsel.ipk
enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport-rytec_20110303-r2_all.ipk
python_ipks.zip

you will then need to unzip the python_ipks zip file which gives you 4 more .ipk files,
so you will then have a total of 6 ipk files which you ftp to the /tmp folder on your box,

then just follow the install instructions and hopefully it will work :)

EDIT: Sorry for the stupid copy and paste tables/borders lol

I copied the files to the root of the Dm800 because the local ipkg software installer couldn't find anything if they were in the tmp folder.

I installed each one as per the instructions. I then installed both the xmltv import files.

I restarted enigma and nothing was different in the blue menu. So now I'm stuck =S

I also copied the xml source to the etc/epgimport folder

Am I right in thinking that this thing updates the EPG automatically?

You would have to set it all up first and then use a cron job to schedule it to run everyday, but that part is usually covered with a couple of button presses from the installed plugins,

not sure why your installer could not find the files in /tmp which may have led to them being installed in the wrong places,
I think you may try a different tack for your epg needs or else change image,

sorry I could not help you more :(

I tried installing an open pli image from the pli images website, but that ended up bricking my box, so I had to use dreamup to put my old image back on.

If there is nothing available for pli jade enigma 2, then I'll try another image again :)

You cant directly flash original images onto clone recievers, older images you could use original images, providing you flash the clone patched bootloader after you flash the image. Newer images you have to use patched images with Clone bootloader.
If it' a OpenPLI you want, use the gjstroom patched OpenPLI patvhed from source in the downlaods section here, or use the DreamboxUK v1.1 image make sure you flash the clone bootlaoder after the image before rebooting the box if you use the DreamBox UK image the gjstroom image already has the clone bootloader integrated.
This is assuming you have a SIM2.01 based reciever if you have a different SIM then use the correct patched bootlaoder for that SIM (Ferarri, Estar etc..)

Thanks mate, didn't know that at all!

Before I do that, I thought I'd try CrossEPG because it makes more sense now, but it's not downloading anything. I've configured it to save to the USB flash drive I have connecte and initialised and I've selected some providers, but it goes through:

Starting downloader
Starting convertor
Loading data

and that's it. It doesn't do anything beyond that.

bump...Got the latest rev 2.01 tuner on dm800hd clone running pli jade enigma 2.

Want to be able to have the current showing programs listed in the bouquets screen, I'm hoping that any recommended ones update themselves automatically regularly.

I would say use the DreamboxUK v1.1 image its based on a up to date OpenPLI build. You can auto download 28.2E bouquets and picons, and it has pre-installed crossepg so if you have an internal hard disc or USB key plugged in just select your EPG sources in crossepg and set your storage path, and you set cross epg to auto update daily etc...

Even in standard OpenPLI image if you install xmltv plugin and rytec sources and set to update on a daily basis it works fine. CrossEpg has more options though,

As said m8 I think you really need to update the image as that one is about 3 years old so may not have all the functions you need ;)

Thanks gsmtech and wiz569. At least now I have a solid recommendation to go by :)

I'll get onto downloading and installing that one right away :D :D

I can't find DreamboxUK v1.1 for DM800HD Pro (Clone).

I've downloaded the SE one and the one found in the Clone part of linuxsat support and the first one flashing failed saying that it was incorrect architecture and the other one must have been for the original DM800 as i've now got the err 01 problem.

Can you provide me with a link please guys for the right one? Thanks

EDIT: I think I have found it @ sat-television

You cant use the SE version it;s for the new DM800SE units, they have a different CPU and chipset hence images are not compatible. You will find the DreamboxUK image on the DreamboxUK forums google them, it;s also on DreamOEM where they have patched it to integrate the latest SSL82 SIM201 bootloader.
I havent posted it in downloads here as I dont know if they take kindly to distribution of the image without permission.

The image I found was not the right one so got the Err01 error again...D'OH!! Back to square one...
