hi

i am using the above image - but the wireless setting keeps vanishing and only reappears when i "restart" the machine.

is there a setting anywhere i can change as it seems the wireless is somehow switching to sleep mode.

the image is fine other than that - epg could be better i guess.
any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Ive not run that image mate but you have strange symptons for it to disaper like that im wordering if it is more of a hardware issue with the dongle.

Check the connection to the mobo is pushed fully home also if you have any usb device pulgged in remove them reboot and test again.

hi

yeah i will try pushing it in to make sure its connected properly - i did have the lid off recently.

but i am thinking its the image - because "restarting" always fixes it.

is there any sort of command that might be in the image that sends the wlan to sleep mode if inactive or something ?

thanks

No sleep command im aware of mate.

When you try other image do you get the same problem ?

no - not had the issue with other images.

i still cant work out why the image i used for 2 years suddenly stopped working, and depsite me re-flashing with it numerous times the machine just gets stuck in a boot loop when i try it now.

i want to try your open pli 4.0 image - but havent permission yet,

hope that one might fix it.

thanks

can i ask a dumb question ?

i have got your image now - it let me !!

there are a few elements of the image by johnsat that i like - can i add parts to your image ?

i usually get an error as i only have 60mb for the image - but yours is only 46mb - leaving 14mb free.

thanks for your help mate

UPDATE

opened box and checked wireless - all ok.

just flashed it with your image - big problems.

machine doesnt find any wireless networks - and either crashes or hangs when i try to look into "network" settings.

not the same problem as with the other image - but deffo "network" related,

any suggestions ?

thanks

Sorry ive never run that image with wifi.

hi again !!

i am really struggling with this.

the ferret openpli image crashes each time i look at wireless settings - the johnsat openpli image works fine - but the wlan and lan both seem to need full restart of machine and restart network to work - every day.

i have looked inside the machine and the wlan card is soldered on the board and apart from slight dust seems fine.

i am sure somewhere in the image theres a network setting hidden away - anyone have any suggestions ?

what other images are any good i can try - whats open atv etc ?

thanks

hi

somethings not right.

a few images scan on wireless and find my network - but then crash when i go back to test network.

a few other images just crash when i try to restart network.

i deffo have some sort of network issue for it to always be wlan issues.

i have spent so much time re-flashing and waiting to tune in - i cant see anything else i can do.

even the one that says wifi fixed doesnt work properly.

the wifi is soldered onto the board - its not a case of just swapping the wlan board is it ?

thanks

You could run a wifi dongle.

funnily enough i have added a dongle last night.

that gives me 3 network connections when i restart the machine.

the built in WLAN still dissappears when you turn the machine on and off.

the dongle WLAN stays visible - but network has to be restarted whenever the machine has been in standby for over an hour.

the LAN stays visible - but again has to be restarted when the machine has been in standby for over an hour because the "link" green tick has gone and nothing unscrambles.

i was convinced it was a hardware issue - but i am not sure now.

when i get into the machine by FTP there are several WLAN settings, i get the feeling somehow its going to standby mode or something.

its stressing me out - was up til 4am reflashing and trying other images

Looking over the internet my problem isnt unique.

Not exactly understood the problem yet - but getting there.

will post back
