fixing 'no ca error' - recommend a null to usb cable, please.

hi guys.

like a tit, I flashed my dm800hd clone with an original image...having this box for over 4 years, I feel like a right idiot now...ANYWHO trying to find a good null-to-usb cable, as I don't have anything in the house with the old serial port to use the standard null cable.

already bought one, but it doesn't seem to work (not sure if it's me, or it's actually the cable being crap)

this is the cable I bought: NEW 1.8m USB to RS232 Female Cable COM Port Serial 9 Pin DB9 Female Cable Lead | eBay - based on the description that it works with satellite boxes. but dreamup/nfc etc. don't seem to see the box. so want to try another one.

can anyone recommend something that they've tried and know it will work ? thanks

yh, I deffo bought a wrong cable...it's a standard RS232, not a null serial - dont know why the guy said in description that it will work with satellite boxes...

Thats just a usb to RS232 connector. you will need a null modem cable also.

comments say that someone used it to flash a dreambox, so it should be fine. it does mention it's a null cable (crosswired) too.

I bought the same cable as you, although when I brought it home it was a ubs-rs232M cable -.- a F-F didn't do much but with some luck I also found a Null-F/F cable,threw that on the standard cable and it has been working since, found it all at Clas Ohlson, As far memory serves,they have CO stores in the UK too, how about dropping by there ? My local store had everything I needed in store-stock so took me the drive to and from town to get hold of everything I needed
