Hi fellas, having some problems with my Dreambox. Let me explain in detail:

My box is a clone Dreambox DM800 HD PVR, with Sim 2.01 and bootloader 84B. The image in it is quite old (Nabilosat Blackhole, from 2009 or earlier, I think), and was loaded in it by the lad that configured the box for me and gave me access to his subscription server.

It recently started going into an endless loop of booting without actually starting up, says starting Blackhole enigma2 and then the front LCD will go off, and come back again , repeating the loop without starting the image. From what I read on here, it seems I might need to change my image.

Major question is how do I retain my CCcam.cfg and use it for the new image, thereby retaining my subscription to the chap's server, as he is currently out of the country and won't come back till next year mid January.
I had access to all Sly UK, Italy, Canal+ etc. With a motorised dish.

2. Which latest image and bootloader will work for me, and considering that my box only goes into an endless loop, how do I go about doing it.

Basically, how can I switch images and still retain my premium channels. I am a bit technically savvy, but have only ethernet to work with (no null modem cable).

Thanks

If usinhg CCcam, your line is in a file called CCcam.cfg located in /etc/ on the receiver. If using Mgcamd, it is in a file called newcamd.list loacted in /usr/keys/.
Save using ftp program such as filezilla and you can flash whatever image you want and then put the config file back.

If your in bootloop then chances are the Ethernet will not be active to FTP into your box to copy your your configs to your PC.

If this is the case there is no way of retrieving them speak to your mate.

Bootloop as you describe though can be caused by a failing PSU so please try another before you reflash.

Had my hopes up for a second. So I am effectively screwed??? The box has a hard disk, so is there a way I can dual boot another image, to check? or something?

Have you tried FTP it may get far enough in the process to get in with ftp but I have me doubts it will.

No mate if the flash image is damaged there is no hope of mulitboot but do try another psu as bootloop can be caused by a failing psu just as the tuner gets fired into life drawing more power then the bootloop.

If receiver is rebooting maybe you're stuck. If enigma keeps restarting then you are definitely in luck.

I think you should try a different PSU first though.

Only enigma is in a restarting loop. It just shows starting enigma without moving on

as above mate try an ftp & swap psu

Not at home now, but will try and report back if it works. Hope it does. The psu, if it is bad, is it something i can do anything about without buying another dreambox?

you need a 12v psu 2 or 3 amp out

many psu devices capable as a substitute

Excellent, thanks

Yippeee, was able to FTP into the box and copied the CCcam file to my PC. Although it had multiple CCcam files, from CCcam.cfg to CCcam_5.cfg. All they all needed? ALso, I can go ahead and reinstall the bootloader and image, right?
Thanks

Also, does being able to FTP into the box mean I can reinstall the image using ethernet, instead of a null modem cable?

Just keep all the cfg files, just in case.
You can flash new image eg oe2.0 with bootloader 84d.
Just make sure it is for sim2.
Use web browser for flashing takes 2-3 mins.

Been trying to connect to the box using a browser, and so far, I have tried Firefox, Safari, IE and Chrome, and they all say "Failed to open page, cannot connect to server "192.xx.x.x"
Can I use dreamup with ethernet option?

And sorry for being a noob to do, but how do I get my old satellite settings from the old image before attempting the flash? i.e the Longitude and Latitude and the motorised satellite setup files? Since I still have ftp access, would just love to copy the old settings out, if I knew which files, flash the new image, copy the settings back, and go drink a can of beer :))

Alright, got to the boot screen via IE. So before I flash it, any way of getting the satellite setup settings out?

I went ahead and flashed it. All working now and my cccam is working too after i copied it back into the new image. You guys rock, thanks
