when i turn power off from the mains my box wont boot up properly. ive tried a few images and at some point they do the same! if i leave the power running the box works great!

Power Supply Unit m8,try another from a different box if you have one
When I'm shutting down my box every night I first stick it in Deep Standby and then switch it off at the wall,
dont know if that makes any difference tbh
thx, its not that. it boots up on the led screen to a certain point then stops booting!
mine does that mate some times, I found it out to be when I have a HDD connected (internal) I just leave it on all the time now.
Found that when plugging it in, would not boot some times, have to keep un-plugging and then plugging back in.
All part of the clones way of the walk me thinks.
Wizz says good though, shut down before un-plugging. oh and I have an 800HD by the way I know you have an SE, just thought I'd mention....

i dont shut it off, my wee girl did. raging, i should be watching footy not reflashing a box! arghhh.

tried a few images now, always the same. i think there may be something in what dibbers says about the hdd being in the box.
I got it with mine last night after cross epg reverted to flash, all was fine while it was running but on reboot the image appeared corrupted on boot 
I put it down to internal memory being full as I attempted to update the epg but i did need a reflash but fortunately had made a backup.

maybe its a flaw somewhere in the software. i dont think its hardware.
UPDATE!!!!!!
since reflashing my box with the same image settings and cams etc. it has never crashed once. the only thing i have done different is not update the epg.
so....
pros....
stable box, great picture and no crashes.
cons....
no way of recording or finding out whats on in the next hour or two!!!

Mine has stopped updating entirely however it is not reverting to flash which was causing the majority of problems.
Seems to run the update process as normal but my epg is empty after the event. Tried rebooting and even re-installing cross epg from the git 290 file read posted but the problem still remains.

i think that was the problem m8, the epg is set for the hdd however i think there is maybe bugs or flaws with the image. i think it keeps reverting to store on the flash memory. i havent crashed once since not updating the epg.
You need to do one of the fixes that IamATeaf has presented,there is a big thread in here on the very subject,have a good read through it and try one of them m8

ill give it a go m8. im gonna leave the box another week. its never lasted this long before, so im gonna leave it and see if im on the money with the epg thing. so far it seems to be.
