hiya, i have a old dm800 which used to take bootloader 82 images, the motherboard went in it some how and it was before i got into soldering properly myself so i had a freind look at it which was a big mistake as he proper messed it up, anyway i was recently clearing some draws out and came accross so i emailed a few people about getting a new motherboard for it, one of the quotes i got back was 66 pound delivered, he said it is a boot 84 , gemi 5.1 which i presume is the image on it, got a fan on the heatsinker, tuner can be alps m version, but said my tuner alps k version would work, doesnt come with sim card and the one i have got is sim 1.0 i think, but theres a guy who can upgrade it to a ferrari sim card for 10 pounds, so im wondering what the best thing to do is, i havent had or done anything with a dm800 since mine broke so after abit of advice regarding whether this motherboard im going to get is any good ? like bootloader 84 ? and upgrading my sim card to ferrari will that work also and if so what images could i use ? and any other info i might need to know, thanks

I would say its not worth the hassle. New one with sim 2.1 would cost £110 delivered. To push a point you could sell the old one as faulty for £30 on fleabay. Someone would buy it no doubt. Alternatively strip down and sell as parts individually. Ferrari support is crap in comparison to sim2 team. As for upgrading to ferrari not all sim1 sims will upgrade and I could point you in right direction to do it yourself.

If it is sim1 currently it would not have taken a bootloader above 72. I presume you meant that when you stated 82.

hiya, yesh that is correct i meant 72 mate, was quite a long time ago, i actually have a vu duo but i got interested when i found my old dm800 in the draw and thought it be something to mess about with, then even maybe put in the bedroom or keep as a spare box, could you not put a sim 2 in this once the new mobo was put in, or would it have to be a ferrari sim, is bootloader 84 up to date or not really ? that was first quote i had aswell for 66 quid so maybe get it cheaper else where i dont know, but it was from a company that alot of people on here use so i know it be legit, thanks

The mainboard price you were quoted sounds about right. Doubt you will get it much cheaper with delivery from china. If you then add a sim 2.1 card you are gonna add another £15-20. Your end result is gonna be a second hand box regardless.

If you pm dibbers I beleive he is gonna sell his dm800hd with sim 2.01. You could then sell on the bits you have from your old receiver like the tuner, front panel, psu and if you can upgrade the sim to ferrari then even that would have a reasonable value. This would then leave you in a position you are looking for - a cheap box for the bedroom :)

Hiya, yeah been doing abit of thinking on it today and i think your probably right mate, not really worth doing, thanks for advice mate,

I have got a mainboard here somewhere you can have for 40 quid, bought it to replace mine but got my existing one back on its legs with the help of a soldering iron :)

hiya, what board version is it mate ? what sim etc would i need ? thanks

The board has got DM800 REV:L printed on it, just swapped it out with my current box, SIM 201 with BL84a and booted up fine.

hiya, will i be able to upgrade my sim 1.0 card to a ferrari sim then and use it on that mobo ? i was searching around last night and i found abit of a guide that said update your old sim 1.0 card to ferrari sim, i only had quick flick threw it and i got the impression you do it threw the box itself, threw a plugin of somesort, but not quite sure how i would go about doing that, see i dont wanna spend to much money on it as like mark_the_yid said can get new dm800 for 110 quid, thanks

Yer think you flash an image onto the box that lets you update the SIM.

Been a while since I done anything with older SIM's but cant see there being any issues, maybe someone else can confirm that though.

hiya mate, i been talking to a few people about the idea i had of brinign this dm800 i have back to life but i dont think its worth it, could be issues with my old sim, not all sims are updateable. could be issues with the tuners i have not working, if all them issues go the wrong way i could end up spending more money than it would cost to buy a new one, so sorry mate but im going to leave it, thanks though for the offer,

Would much appreciate if you would kindly send me the site where I can purchase a NEW Dm800 pro motherboard with sim2.10. Many thanks for your assistance.BEST WISHES
