Hi

Thinking of buying a DM800SE clone, but I see it has a BCM tuner rather then the newer ALPS 801A M tuner, now the suplier says he will swap out the BCM for the ALPS if I want he says there is no difference between them bar the ALPS has the loop through F connector. Anyway just wondering what which tuner would you guys go for?

Thanks

As far as I am aware there are no Alps tuners for the dm800se,it was for the ordinary dm800 so be careful in case he's trying to sell you a dm800 instead of the se model,

Unless anybody has anymore info on this I would be careful m8

I have a faulty tuner on a dm800se bought from china and asked for a replacement tuner and they sent me a dm800 tuner as a replacement saying that the 2 were the same but when i change tuners the box reboots on loop and wont work in my view the change of tuner has rendered/changed my 800se to a 800hd so the image needs to be changed as well the main reason i bought a 800se was because of the non freezing on hd channels iv already got another 2 boxes working great its just this one if i were you stick with the tuner thats in the se box theres also rumours of twin tuner comming out for the se hopefully tuner will be sold seperatly for upgrading existing boxes.

i have a A: ALPS BSBE2 (DVB-S3) it's a dreambox 800 HD like, but it's rock solid.....if that helps at all....

Thanks Lads I'll stick with the original BCM tuner

the alps tuner has a loop out and wont fit in a dm800se unless some kind of mod is made on the back plate. i read on another forum that the bcm tuner gives slightly lower sq readings than the alps and is very slightly less sensetive. regards mdt

Sorry for the "hijack" what's the loop out actually do?

Well what it allows you to do is loop the signal to another box for example I use an old Technomate to move my dish to another satellite, so all I had to do was put my dreambox in standby power up the technomate and move to the satellite I want, I know I should get a Diseq control box but I find the technomate is very good at automatically homing in on the satellite's max signal strength.

BTW I bough the Alps tuner seperately as I needed one for my old original DM800
