Hi

Been playing with my new 800 SE for a few weeks and have tried a few images and for the moment have settled on the Newnigma2 by ******* SSL84.

Eventually thought about a hard drive and tried a 16mb usb drive and an external samsung hdd with its own power supply.

Both gets mounted but will not initialize and then loses format and have to format again. Have tried fat32 and ext3 both from pc via Easeus and within box but always fail to initialize with the following messages.

Partition sda1 mounted on: /autofs/4E91-D793 This can change numbers at end each time I try.

Unable to initialise harddisk.
Error: Mkfs failed

Unable to complete filesystem check.
Error: Fsck failed

Have been trying for a few days now, would like to get them both working before I move onto buying an internal drive for it.

When I try the record button says no hdd found or not initialized. Want to use the usb for epg and external hard drive for recording and stuff.

Any help in right direction and what Im doing wrong would be great. Thanks

Regards

just reading on the net and it would seem that your not alone, some one mentioned pulling the HDD out and attaching it to a pc and running some checks, they did, and they even sent it back to the manufacturer, here's a quote :

I sent the HDD back as Toshiba said it "could be the HDD", i replaced it with a Hitachi, I then tried to initialize it and it failed again !...i then changed image to new nabilo(what an image this is) and it initialized and works 100%, watched a couple of movies I'd transfered of the pc...
maybe an image problem?

Ive allready tried 2 other images as well with same results, think it might be the path. Have tried editing the fstab file via dcc but Im not to sure about what Im doing there.
