Ive had a dm800 now for over a year..
It originally came with a L3 tuner... and i did post on another topic here about fixing some of the glitching (or at least increasing the signal strength) from 55% SNR to around the 80's by changing the L3's capacitor to a larger better made cap from maplins.

SO.. after doing the cooling, and Telnetting tone amplitude, I still had problems...

So then the answer to my prayer came along and I bought a REV M tuner off fleebay and stuck it in.... NOW, i get 85-90% SNR on most channels... BUT THE FUKN THING STILL FREEZES...

It was then it hit me. My daughter (only 4 --- ahhhh everyone) wakes up at 6-7am on a saturday, and thats daddys time to get up with her (the enemy does sundays)...

Over the period of a month or so, We'd get up have breakfast, watch sky 1 HD - shes a sucker for braniac and oops TV... and you know what NO GLITCHING...

so im sitting on the Ipad, I have the speed test app up.. I also CC to a chap in Germania.. im hitting 1245kbs (on a 10mb connection to Vmedia).. so im hitting good numbers...

about 9.30 the other girls get up and its blackberrys at breakfast and my soccer AM is cracking up... another speed test and im on about 100kbs...

I think all these problems are internet connection based... I get BBCHD and the other freeview HD's all good... as soon as were watching a CCAM induced channel and the internet is slow... boom... loss of chanels...

Can any one else confirm this, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

and dont get me started on sunday nights when the whole of the UK is online... i get hardly anything... even on non hd channels it breaks up...

Maybe in your case it could be your internet connection. But L3 tuners are definitley flakey and can cause HD glitches.

I tested this on a LAN so server was local, no internet connection involed and L3 tuner would cause low SNR and Glitches on the usual channela...Discovery HD, ESPN HD etc.

These problems are resolved with a Rev M tuner on the same box.

could also be your provider for these channels, causing the breakups, over subscribed server it sounds like to me!

He has fitted an m tuner mate

Ok, to follow on from this, I have set the ip address for my dm...
I jumped into my router and set the DMZ of my boxes ip address so it is outside the firewall.

We've been watching good food hd for an hour now and it's only broken picture a couple of times... Not frozen to black screen... Well try an hd film tonight and see what happens!

I'm getting 50mb sorted on the 4th.. I'm only on 10 mb now... I hope this may fix it permanently...

Can anyone else who is freezing test this for me and see what happens?

In the last year, I've tried 4 different providers and all the same problems on exactly the same channels...

If my box is constantly talking to the provider, it must be Internet connectivity at fault

10mb is more than enough, it only sends tiny bits of info every few seconds, have you done a speedtest and pingtest too make sure your internet line is ok!

got the web browser for whatever cam your using, and you can see how long you have been connected to the provider, if youve been connected for days without disconnecting then that would suggest its nothing to do with your internet but more the provider, if its dropping out all the time then it probably is your end!

How do I log into the webpage of the cam??

As per my first post, the speed is ok in the mornings and dire any other time of the day...

thats an example, you need to put your own ip address address in of your box!

Ok, done that, What information do I need to look at?

Servers says connected for 4hours, with 28 cards...

What else should I be seeing?

Btw, I turn my box off when I go out and last thing at night...

you could look at the ecm time .

1.124 on the chap I'm most recently using... Only been connected for half an hour or so on his trial

2.166 now watching Atlantic... 21.04

idealy ecm time should be below .6,so thats probably the root of your problems

yip the average should be something around

0.0918s

never seen any go above 1.0000 or anywhere close to that actually!

See, without telling me how/why/what keeps an ECM below .6 a post like yours is no help...

Is my Internet connection slow, is provider slow... Is it something else?

Now, 2mins later, 0.26.... Is it Internet then as I first thought...

have yo done a pingtest mate to test your the quality of your line, goto Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test and do the test, post back your results, as its a good indicator as to how good your line is!
