i can got for either sly or virmin where i am but seeing as you get more hd channels with sly i thought id go for that.

My mate that was going to help me set all this up has dropped off the face off the earth. Quite wierd actually mobile dead house phone dead no answer to emails or pms etc.

Ive heard some of the virmin ones are very unreliable. Where as the sly ones are far better

Anyhow for a amateur how easy are they to set up and whats the reliabilty of them?

The other one i was thinking was for virmin the krptyview 780 as i dont need to find a server to share with for that.

I know its a grey area but if you type in card share servers u get one on google for £20 a month is that one ok as i dont know where else to find them!!??

Cheers all and how on gods name do you find a good supplier of them lol:Clap:

For the Kryptview you could look at iwantabox.co.uk I have used them before and they are quite quick and reliable. I would probably be inclined to go down this route if you are a bit green. (the A780 isn't hd not sure if kryptview do a hd option)
For the sly route there are quite a few different options. Possibly something like a clone dm800hd is available from primussat for around 188. This route will require a bit more effort but may be more rewarding.
If your going down the payserver route then definately only go a month at a time. You may find out that after a month or two the service isn't what it first was.
Good luck

Im not green as such done the pace virmin boxes just for me for years. Right up until last year my ditv1000 was still running nearly 15 years later!!!!

As long as i know i can get some where and am on heading down the right tracks i prefer to experiment and learn along the way.

So really A780 quick route. No HD no way of telling how long. £150

DM800hd more messing about and flashing firmware and then finding a cs server etc but could be more reliable than the 780 as if one cs server goes down then you can just find another! £200

See my mate had the dm800 with a hard drive installed as well and wante d£160 for it but as said hes disspeared off the face of the earth.

Woud prefer sly route as you get more hd channels.

Virmin would probably be better off downstairs where the virmin feed as im a communal block so only have 2 sly points and 2 virmin.

Hmmmm decisions decisions!

Oh and thanks!

Dm800HD is around 150 quid or less depending one exhange rate if you use a China based supplier.

If you use a UK based supplier then close to the 200 pound mark (180 ish + delivery), Some UK suppliers charge 225 quid + delivery...

Basically your paying more for the same product still imported from China from the same factories/suppliers, on the "hope" that service will be better if something goes wrong...which isnt always the case some UK based suppliers are crap for service...Satronics for example..

Theres a fair few dedicated CS forums where pay servers advertise, google them and check there. Personally I dont use any pay servers so cant comment on their reliability or quality of service etc..

the idea has also been kicking round my mind about the starview hd combo. With cable and sat tuners? But i dont see that name widely talked about? Any reason for that?

I dont really know much about the Starview HD Combo, if it lets you connect to the same cable CS server as the Starview 6 and 7 inclusive in the purchase price, and also is compatible with CCAM etc for Sat...might be worth investigating..

From personal experience I would advise that you stay away from the starview. I got 3 for some friends that aren't very computer literate and they are all having problems with glitching and channels disappearing during hi demand. During united matches etc.
The A780 is supposed to be a bit more reliable. Not as much demand put on servers, rumour has it that they don't have an expiry date, but I can't comment on that as no one has had one for 12 months yet.
the DM800hd looks like a nice solid hd box and can be got from primus sat for about 188, primus sat seem to have a good reputation and hopefully should have some good feedback.
good luck

dm800 or 8000 it is then.

I just liked the though of both tuners available.

Ive now gotta decide which.

Dont really need dual tuners and thats all that separates it right?

if the dm 8000 is that much better ill get that, but need to know!

also dont mind paying for CS details but want as near to sky + as poss

seconds thought and i just googled the 8000hd and its like major bucks why is it so much more than the 800?

It's a higher spec box, supports 4 tuners DVD drive etc...Even clones are 400 quid +.

DM800 HD it is then.

So with out reading every single page on it the basics are.....

Buy box. (doesnt matter if its a clone)

Flash with correct firmware.

Install cccam?

enter in cs server details.

Open beer and relax.

maybe create a bouquet or add someone elses so your channels are in correct order!

hmm some ones now mentioned the vu+ duo lol:) ah so many boxes. So much fun.

VU Duo is good but also costs 370 quid. So really comes down to 2 things...

1. What level of features you want ? Linu /non linux ?
2. What your willing to spend/budget.

If you can spend the extra cash and it;s not an issue, buy a VU DUO you get decent support and twin tuners.

All i want is HD and reliability.

Hence why im steering clear of the cable route....

I know publically available CS servers but are there any on here cheaper?(for sly)

Im gonna go for the dm 800 hd i think?

None others to consider>?

If anyone thinks of a good supplier?

Ill order it tomorrow?!

Theres no advantage of having a Ferarri card from what i've seen they always seem to be slower to have patched bootloaders, patched images and updates releasded for them. Sim 2.01 appear to be 1st with updates.

Also Ferarri boxes dont have heatsink or fans installed as standard. Basically theres 2 types of clones...made in different factories and theres a wholo load of competition between the Ferarri clones and the SIM2.01 clones...

Primusat only sells Ferarri clones, you'll have to use ukdreamshop or go direct to Yaoxin China for SIM2.01 clones. Latest tuner revision is Tuner rev M on SIM2.01 I also believe theyve started calling it DM800Pro clone now...

Other than the above theres no real difference between SIM2.01 and Ferarri...obviously sellers of each one will tell you different..

My mate has just go the dm800hd clone from primus sat and it all looks good. Came pre installed with gemini project although I think they claim that their blank, probably to get round any legal issues.
Don't know if the heat is an issue ,yet, although there is a usb port on the back and have heard of people just sticking a usb fan on the back to cover this.
Don't know about going to china direct, as for £30 quid saving I think that you have pretty much kissed goodbye to any customer service at all.
Clone boxes can't use every image, and from what I can make out the images that you can use have to be tricked into believing the box is a legit one, so not too hard but not straight forward either.
If you have the money then in my opinion the vu+ duo is the box to go for. It certainly seems to win most discussions that pop up on here. It will also give you a closer to sky+ effect. Can't record one channel and watch another if you only have one tuner like the dm800hd.
let us know what you decide.
