Over a period of time the clock loses time is this a hardware fault. Makes it impossible to do epg recordings.

Thanks

If you have a box with the front processor 3,then yes its a known problem but there is a work around

First unzip the ntp file and ftp it to /etc/enigma2
Then install the dvbtime plugin

Reboot box and you will notice you now have a GP2 DVB Time settings option in Menu-Setup-System
You should not need to change anything in there as this will now on startup sync the time from a ntp server

Works fine even in deep standby for me mate,

Sometimes craps out if the box boots fully before it gets an ip address,

Do you have a front processor 3 version? Menu-information-about

I'm using DBUK 2.1.2 which is OpenPli based anyway,
did you copy over the ntp.conf to etc/enigma2?

Followed all instructions it seems a few have this problem and the plugin don't work for everyone.I set the time manualy it seems to work ok when not in standby.
Will keep it running without putting it in standby. Thanks for your help much appreciated.

Hi Rodboy,
I was referring to the above download which i used and it corrected the time on my box as soon as i used it if that makes sense to you. I was not taking the mickey,The reason for only seven post that the very first post i made i was told that posted in the wrong place and i would be ban if i did it again,so I decided to sit on the fence,I do ok for myself I program all my own boxes. i am not a good speller etc.But I never would take the mickey out of someone. i would gladly pass any info on in my own time. just as a matter of interest this box is a sunray dm800se had with 250hd with open pli ,i just fiddle around seeing what i can get working on it for fun my main box is dm8000 gen i also have a vu+ duo which i rate very highly, anyway hope i have not upset you with ha ha no harm meant sir cheers

Bear in mind it will still lose time in standby mode unless you setup a cronjob to poll an NTP server every couple of minutes :)

I didn't mean any harm either mate! But I am glad that I provoked a response !

Please don't feel that you can't contribute to the forum because you have spelling difficulties .... No one on here is perfect, least of all an A'hole like me,lol

Btw your spelling is fine if not better than most that post regularly on here.

With the boxes you have, your experience would be invaluable on this forum so please don't be afraid to join in.

Would be grateful if you could give me a little tutorial on how to do a cronjob for keeping the time.

Thanks

Was hoping nobody would call me on that one lol

I have since changed image and don't use that feature now as I never use standby anyway,
But iirc you need to install cronmanager and then create a script that polls an NTP server, then using cronmanger schedule it to run every min or two :)

I will see if I can recreate it later if I get time
