started off with a 500 then went onto 600 then 800 now im tempted by the 8000HD.

what are peoples thoughts on this? does it use same / similar updates and methods as the previous models? does it have any overheating or any issues I need to know about before buying?

thanks in advance for any tips!

a great box, but i`ve just sold mine and bought a vu+ duo. just as good, a lot cheaper and very easy to flash with usb.

You thinking of buying an original or clone. Dont own one myself...but vastly overpriced at nearly 1000 pounds...
Havent heard much about the clones...dont know if theyre any good or not. On paper an 8000HD is better than a VU DUO, 8000 has support for quad tuners...

clone mate. not even looked at vu boxes. it be purely for the watch one thing while recording another feature. but i know after messing about with it theres so much more to it. silly money for a box tho.

i got dm500hd and dm8000 its a great kit with loads to play with but i never touch a clone if it fook up thats it, only for info mate and past experince with clones I bought mine over in germany which only cost me £720

Buy yourself a VU+ Duo not a DM8000 clone, half the price of a genuine DM8000 ;)

I have two clone 800 side by side with 500 gb hdd, just switch hdmi inputs via the tv remote control and you basically have an 8000 box for circa £300 :proud:

to me the vu+ duo is just as good as the 8000. i had a 8000 for 18 months yes it has 4 tuners but that`s the only different. the duo has 2 sat tuners so you can record one channel and watch another. you can also fit usb tuners if you want more.

Couple more differences well, DM8000 has 2 x SPDIF, VU only has one, DM8000 has built in Wifi module..VU Doesnt. Dm8000 has OLED front display, VU doesnt.

DM800 has compact Flash and SD card reader built in.

If this was original vs original, I would buy a VU DUO as wll, the 1000 pound price tag for a DM8000 original is just not wort the cash for what extra features you get. Clone Dm8000 vs Vu Duo is a different matter though...

yes, ok on the SDFIF, i don`t like wifi, hard cable everytime, it does have an oled, as for compact Flash and SD card reader what`s wrong with a usb stick?

so simple to flash with usb.

i sold my 8000 a month ago before people find out about the vu+ duo and got a good price for it while the going was good.

The Vu+duo is a really good machine, but the Dm800 is a really good machine also, and with the dm you get 4-ci slots and two card reader's, plus you can put in a slim line dvd to. From what i have read in different places people seem to be very happy with the Dm8000 clone's, i would really like on myself. The only thing i would say at the moment is the clones that have been made recently have had an Lcd display as the factory ran out of Oleds, but as far as i believe The Oled display models will be back on sale in about another week. From what i gather a lot of the seller's have been telling people they still had Oled's when they never, but i know off one seller who told the truth about it and he has been saying he will only sell the Oled display model from now onward's.

Sorry for being ignorant but exactly what does "Oled" mean?
Looking to buy my 1st DM although stiil unsure what model. Many thanks
