Hi,

As many know i received my clone Dm800 and i must say im very happy with it! I have come across one issue... Basically this morning, i had my dm500 hooked up to a motorised dish, and it was pointing at 28.2! So i got the Dm800 hd, plugged it in, installed eveything, and then sat back and chilled for a bit. I then decided i wanted to watch something on another sat (19.2) but i could not get the dish to move!

After about an hour of fannying around trying to setup the motor, i decided i would hook up the dm500 so i could watch the repeat which was on an hour later. Now the dm500 said "turning motor to 19.2", but the dish was not moving?! im stuck with 28.2?! any ideas what could have gone wrong?! surely the motor cant just 'blow up'!

I have read somewhere, cant remember if it was on this forum or not, but other people seemed to have motor problems - however these were motor setup issues with the dm800...! i now seem to be having the same issues on the dm500 aswell!

The same thing happen to me on a real dm800hd and my 500s. I had to go up the ladder and reset the motor. I then plugged the dm800 back in and had to use usals. No way could I use 2.1 to move the dish.

Thought it was a common issue! could you please elaborate on how you reset the motor, and how you use USALS?

The motor i have is Diseqc compatible... will this still work with the dm800 and usals?

If i go to the sat setup page on my DM500 and press left or right on the remote to turn the dish east/west the motor does not move at all... will resetting it help resolve this?

Thanks

you need to reset the motor to 0, put your long and lat into the 800 then it should be ok.

you can`t swap receivers because if you do the motor will not know where it is.

So i guess that is why i cant do anything with the dm500 then!

will give it a go when its light outside again - cheers for the swift responses, much appreciated!

Thanks... will have to give it all a bash tomorrow morning!

My concern is that no matter what box i have plugged in, whether the dm500 or dm800 i cannot move the dish with the remote. Im am worried that somehow the motor is screwed, but i dont see how that would be possible! Reading a few things on the matter, it sounds like USALS is just a common issue with the dm800 and motors!

Im going to be loosing alot of sleep over this one! :handball:

Edit: Cant use usals or manual - Still nothing moving! In a moment of rage i 'wiggled' the sat dish to try and get the motor to move! Now im even worse off as the dish is not aligned with any sat!!!! weird thing is, even when putting it back into position, nothing is coming up... siganl is always at 60% no matter where i point it!!!! Could the lnb, coax cable have something to do with it? This is very very odd!!!

on my motor tm2300 there is a hole that u push a pin in and the light blinks orange twice.

when i plugged the dm500 in it put the motor in lock out (overvolt protection)

I had never used usals before this and it rocks
in your set just set the dm800 to simple motor set up and enter your long and lat
done
if your dish is not parking properly on the sats you can adjust. longt
tude to suit.

OK... so we are getting somewhere! Aligned the dish again with true south and hooked up the dm500... nothing... hooked up my other (dusty) dm500 and managed to move dish to a sat (19.2) and viewing the channels worked fine! This was very odd - so I re-flashed the original dm500, and hey presto sat was moving! So motor is working fine again, but the Dm800 - still no luck... Dish is definitely on true south, as it works fine on the dm500's!

I have also noticed that when the dm500's are hooked up, the led on the motor blinks. I can also see the dish turn when I tell it to position to 0 degrees! Again none of this is apparent with the dm800!

i recently did a motor dish install, same prob, clone box, turned out to be the psu......not enuff power to power box and motor, tried 3 different leads, then the one from my genuine box and hey presto ,,,,,the motor moves

I'm a bit confused, did you eventually get the clone box to move the dish by using the lead from the genuine box ?? or you used the genuine box to move the motor ??

were the power supplies the same current rating.?

either that or the clone box had a cheapo power supply with it....but i would of thought almost all the power supplies come out of the same factory with a different name it lol....

dtails on the underside were the same but the genuine worked and the one that came with the clone did not

it powered the stb on single sat but would not drive the motor

HAd a similar nightmare with my original 800, the fooker just wouldnt move the dish. I reset it (the motor) and it just suddenly started to work again. I do still have the odd time when the dish refuses to work but I find if I go into sat finder and tell the dish to move from there it's fine ?

Strange really ;)

i get this say once a month on my 600. if i turn the box on, unplug the coax, then unplug the coax on the dish, shot it all back together, it comes on, seems like a common fault guys

Can you possibly post the spec of the PSU? I have two other power units, but they are both from dm500 clones! I do however know that the dm800 power supply does power the motor when connected to a dm500! I would conclude that it may be an issue with the clones, but if you got yours working with a genuine psu, then there is something else that is wrong... tearing my hair out trying to figure out what though!

i think i will have to admit defeat! Cant be arsed to fanny around with this any more - I now have my dm500 powering the dish motor, and the dm800 coming from a separate feed from the lnb - so i can now watch all sats i want in HD, but i have to move to the correct sat via the dm500 (easy enough with the web interface on an iphone)

Hi Guys

I had the same problem when setting up my DM8000, the set up menu,s
are the same - more or less as the DM800,s. I don,t think there,s a problem
with your motor,s, the setup needs setting correctly.

The first thing i found was for some reason, the limit lock was coming in
and stopping me moving the motor from 1w to east etc. I took the cable
lead off the back of the reciever and then went outside and did a manual
reset on the motor. After having a good read of the manual, i found that
there is a lot more messing to do in the setup menu,s, on the 8000\800,s
than with my dm7020 which is E1. So after talking to a few folk and doing
more reading, i actually got the motor to move correctly and have not
had a problem since. In the setup menu,s, if you don,t set them right
your stb will not work correctly or keep playing up every so often, the
problem is that there is not enough info in the manuals to do this and
you have to play about untill you get it right. I did post a thread about
a week or so ago to a guy who was having problems with his dm800,
but i,ve been looking through the threads and can,t find it. I don,t think
the setup is any different for a clone and so should work the same. If
someone finds it, by all means use it, and if you find it useful, repost it.
If not, i,ll repost a new one fri or sat, if i have time.
