Hi Guyz,

I am trying to flash my dm500s using a RS232 serial using DreamUp. However, everytime i click on the flash button it states the following "file too big" I am using the Commando 14.6 downloaded from this forum.

Please note that my box is completely disabled so i cant perform a factory reset.

Can someone please assist me in resolving this issue. It will be much appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Regards yacs10

thanx for your reply Paphosal. The previous image on the box was "pli-jade-dm500" which was 6,197,248 bytes big. Iv tried to reflash this same image but it states file too big. I have also tried "Commando 14.6" image which is exactly 8,126,464 bytes big. However i still get the same issue. Any suggestions would much appreciated. Thanx

Check the size of the un-rarred .img file you are trying to flash with. It should be exactly 8,126,464 bytes and not a single byte more, nor a single byte less. What image was on there prior?

Cheers- AL :)

rename the commando image to root.cramfs drag into temp folder , go the settings then expert settings then update and manual update and it will install onto box

what version of dreamup are you using ? is it a patched version

Hi mate fnx for your reply but just to let u know that i cant access any of my folders on the box as its "dead." The current image is currupt, hence the reason for reflash

rename the commando image to root.cramfs drag into temp folder , go the settings then expert settings then update and manual update and it will install onto box

Try erasing the old image first in DreamUP.

DreamUp is now connecting to the box using null modem cable. when i plugin the box it initialises the flashing, however when i click on flash and select the image file to be uploadedto the box it comes up with the following message: "error upload aboarted"

Tried several images but same outcome

Any ideas why this is happening??? thanx!!

Are you sure you have a nullify modem cable and not a RSS232 seriel cable?
Both look identical but the pinouts are diffrent.

Also connect the box up through network while flashing, is there not an option to use secondry connection in dreamup where you put the box IP address in?

Can u not get the IP address from your router?

nope it doesn't recognise the box at all, hence da only way to flash da box is using DreamUp using cable???

Have you tried other versions of dreamup? 1.3.3.4 seems to get results when others fail. If that doesn't work you may have to resort to jtag.
