Been playing about for the last week with a new Lonrisun box, did a bit of reading and managed to update to the latest version of Vix using the following method.

Download and flash a clone safe version of Vix, I used Vix Apollo 29 available on this site.
Once flashed do your usual setups.

Next the feeds need to be fixed,
FTP to /etc/opkg
Delete everything in this folder and replace with the ones here in post 170

Next I patched the drivers with the following telnet command
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

This renames the driver versions
While telnet is open you should make the drivers read only by using the following in telnet
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
you can then check it’s read only status by

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

Now you can run an ONLINE UPDATE ONLY.

All the usual applies, do this at your own risk and I can confirm it worked on a vu + solo 2 Lonrisun Clone must be the latest version as it has clone protection.

To be honest I'm just starting out on these boxes so don't know.
I would advise that you contact who you brought the box from ask them.

Here's a screen grab showing the Info

Apollo Build 078

Kernal 3.13.5

Drivers 21/10/14

Sorry I've only played around with the solo 2 so far, maybe one day I'll take a look at a Duo.

As I said I'm new to these boxes, but I'm not new to linux and have dabbled with everything that can hold an OS for years.

Can you make a backup of your lovely working image (make sure you remove softcam server settings). will save people bricking theirs trying to patch it (only for people with lonrison boxes)

Not yet, got myself into some 15hr shifts at work for the run up to xmas.

I will get it done though, just lacking a time when the good wife is not watching her soaps :grayyawn:

If you back it up to your internal harddrive (much quicker - takes about 5 mins) you can FTP to it and transfer the folder to your pc.

Managed to grab a few moments earlier, so it's done and up.....................Enjoy....

Thank you for sharing with the forums @Karl68s

Regards
Mick

I followed this and have now Vix build 090.., but my problem with the channels on 0.8W still remain. This problem. https://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/vu-solo2-receivers-633/411439-vu-solo2-se-scan.html#post2477614

Just a cautious warning for other users thinking of performing an online update. At this moment it's not known whether both these commands are sufficient to prevent driver updates when doing an online image update. The last driver released by VU+ was 21/10/14 and there hasn't been one since (well to date, 30/11/14 anyhow). This means that online updates to Vix 090 (at time of writing) should be okay as there hasn't been any new drivers/kernel changes released by VU+ yet.

Once a new kernel/driver is released for Solo2 and then incorporated into images, that's when it can be tested whether these commands are sufficient to prevent drivers being over-written.

Also, as mentioned by Karl68, it should be latest flash version and doing any online update is at your own risk.

I can confirm that this works as of 2/12/14 to update to vix build 095#
I can now after confirmation inform everyone that this is for V4 boxes only,it is possible and could brick your box if you have not update to V4
