Hi guys,
well iam living proof that u sould never b too confident of doing a dbox. well i tried for the first time doing a sagem 1xi dbox 2 without the null cable. I did the usual loaded up IFA with a nxt gen image. all went well it connected and on the screen it said flashing.
however being a total fool i thought it was taking too long so i pulled the plug out!! then i realised it always takes longer without the null modem cable!!

anyway now i tried doing it its always saying limited or no connection to Lan. I even tried carrying on but in IFA at bottom right it says pinging dbox failed. The startup screen on the box comes up but then it freezes. i tried hooking it up to a tv but it wont do a thing.

have i killed it off totally? pls pls pls help guys iam desperate now!! especially since it wasnt my box!!lol

cheers and thanks in advance!!:

DBOX ----- Chainsaw:

Try using the null modem cable & flash image, will be fine.

wow.. that was quick

well thanks a lot mate... thought i was done for!!..

will report back on this peculiar issue..

: mr ed :

u cant kill a box m8 unless u get the dreaded light green light on ur lcd which means uve fooked the bootloader......1st things 1st ...get urself a null modem cable off fleabay..u can get 1 for about a 5 er...next leave ur networkcard on auto sense...connect ur crossover cable and ur null modem cable 2 ur comp and dbox ...start ifa select image and it should flash with no probs...remember 2 disable any avs or firewalls before u start...

And you really don't need a modem cable unless you want a boot log..

Had it on my box a few times, thought it was taking longer than normal and unplugged the cable. Just put cable back in the box and unpluggled/plugged back in the cable dbox and all went fine. Can't see how you mess up a box this way.

flashing

hi m8
all you need do is get yourself a program on here in downloads, caled image flashing assistance,or ifa for short,no need for null modem, all you need is a little patience.
there is a tut on here tells you what to do,easy peasy realy, follow tut and all will be fine, just wait till it says on lcd flashing done, then click ok on pc screen, and reboot, you will most likley need to put your service files on
: bat :

thanks

Hi guys thanks for the support. i tried doin the box again whilst before i got a null modem cable... no joy, i have tried to connect to the box via ethernet but just says limited or no connectivity... it wont even ping. i think the only way is to get a null modem cable.. i will report back asap guys

thanks

p.s anyone ever used a netgear rangemax wpn802? having problems with that 2...lol

cheers

i find ftp flashing is the best way for me but as you have done a dodgy flash you dont really need the null modem as said before. yeah it takes longer tho

hello

hi guys,
i am very thankfull for all the comments, but i dont think iam making my problem clear (iam a woffler..lol). i have flashed without null cable, but switched it off before it completed.

Now i try to log into box but it says limited or no connectivity, i have tried everything, but if there is limited or no connectivity IFA sits there and does nothing. i tried to assign ip manually with no joy but it does connect.

how can i resolve this connectivity issue?

thanks.

p.s i flashed it with the nxt gen 1xi image on downloads section.

instead of switching power on/off try holding standby and up arrow button behind front panel to reset box, or try a diiferent version of IFA.

I never have any luck with the power off method. Found the Standby and up arrow ALWAYS works. But remember to unplug the network before you reboot as you have to do it all again. (i have done that toooo many times.. lol)

It makes no sense to unplug the network.
Let IFA running and do a reset via standby and up arrow button.

hi

heyup chaps well i have tried the standby and up button the box reboots when i release the up button but am still unable to ping the box, still limited or no connectivity..

any more suggestions guys iam getting desperate now...!!

on windows press start then run, type in msconfig and disable all programmes except the ones that you will be using

do you have wireless installed ifso disable the wireless adaptor card

hellop

Hi guys,
i have wireless but all connections are indeed disabled, i also do not know which programs i need to have running or disabled, please could you elaborate on this.. i think its comming to panic stations lol...

:BLOBBY:

Its got to be a network setting issue or a faulty ethernet port or crossover cable.
So take particular notice of the network setup instructions.

Check you have done all this
Go to control panel then network connections
right click on local area connect and pick properties.
there you will see underneath connect using....your network card
next to this will be a configure tab click on it.
then click on the advanced tab
you need to look for flow control, duplex, linkspeed, mediatype or connection type
drop the value tab arrow down and set to 10baseT_halfduplex or 10 half mode or try automatic or autosense
Then
1.Install IFA in to C:/ check that IFA has been Added to the exceptions in windows firewall, then turn the firewall off,
2.Disable ALL antivirus programs...If you have any Norton crapware disable worm blocking aswell
you might even have to unistall it this includes systemworks aswell
there is a removal tool in the downloads to get rid of anything norton leaves behind
3.Disable any popup stoppers.
4.Give your pc network card a static ip.
IE:pC ip:192.168.1.201 (not needed with ifa but set to this anyway)
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
5.Disable any other network cards you have installed including wireless
6.Disable ics (internet card sharing if available)
7.Ethernet crossover cable connected
8.Nullmodem cable connected if you have one
9.Turn off box,
10.Put Image in C:/ and rename it to mtd3.img
11.Start IFA
12.Select networkcard
13.Tick nullmodem if you have one
14.Select image in C:/
15.Press ok, if it goes to a comm window turn on the box.
16.If you dont get flashing in the lcd on the box try holding the power and up button in till the lcd goes blank
then let go wait about 10 seconds
keep trying a few times.

You can only try doing the next part if you have a nullmodem cable also.
Hold power and up button in till lcd goes blank then let go of power button then up button 2 seconds later
it will go through 3 tests in com window then stop at
dbox ppcboot> type in "boot net" then press enter
if it does not start to flash
then something is still blocking the network.
